This poem was inspired one summer's day when watching the 'spider apartments' I have in my garden. The main original golden-orb (founder of the apartment block) works as the community caretaker. She came, and then another, and then another, and they built their webs side by side sharing each others' anchor lines. They are a beautiful cooperative caring community living together in harmony, helping each other to exist.
Arachdýnami
Watching and wishing on my silken star,
the summer sun breathes out, keeping me warm
as I hang fast admiring Nephila
and her worldly work, her beautiful form.
She quietly knows she is so strong and
I struggle so hard beside her to just
build boldly my huge tiny space of land.
She ignores me so, but I know I must.
My passive power growls gathering pith
as I tell myself I am making ground,
even though I know it’s only a wish
and then the stormy slashing rains come down.
But neat Nephila moves swiftly to mine
and staunchly hangs me a loving life line.
