Green Line Train

Lyrics about more than transportation

By Gabriel ShamesPublished about 6 hours ago 1 min read
C branch of Green Line (Boston)

Here comes the train down the track.

Here I get on, never to look back.

I’m on my way — yes, I’m on my way.

Green line, green line, green line train!

Because sometimes you’re over and sometimes you’re under — sometimes you’re above and sometimes you’re asunder.

And what might happen, could happen, won’t happen to your plunder? Oh yeah….

The green line keeps on rupping, tracks but not coal keep on pupping — sometimes I don’t even know what’s up’n.

No, not at all — no baby, not at all.

Green line, green line, green line train!

Further down the track, what happens now? Is there a market at Haymarket? I wanted to know — is there a market at Haymarket… open this late in the cold?

Ooo yeah, I don’t know.

Well, sometimes you’re over and sometimes you’re under — sometimes you’re above and sometimes you’re asunder.

And what might happen, could happen, won’t happen to your plunder? Oh yeah….

The green line keeps on rupping, tracks but not coal keep on pupping — sometimes I don’t even know what’s up’n.

No, not at all — no baby, not at all.

Green line, green line, green line train!

We’re to Lech-meeeerre at last. A liberated bicycle gang rides on past.

A procession of busses pull out, bumper to bumper as we all go about. Let’s all keep good will, bumper to bumper like we’re just standing still.

Not like it’s un-in-evitable… not like it’s one dir-ection-na-nal. We all have the poten-tial… to be the most… in-tention-na-nal!

Green line, green line… green line train!
