A Musician's Life
An ode to my husband and music, welcome home.
You found it long before you even knew
It nestled itself deep in you
It sleeps where your soul resides
It wakes when you open your eyes
You had found it, and before you knew
Music had made a home in you.

Soon after you made it your skill
There wasn't a beat, a note, a room you couldn't fill
Music took you places you've never been before
Through it new people from every different shore
New friends became chosen family connected at rhythm's core
You've lived in vans, planes, airports, slept on couches and floors
For years the road was your home, there wasn't much else to ask for

But without even asking music brought you love, you saw her in the crowd
and from the stage the notes and lyrics silenced
for your heart was much too loud
It happened fast, it grew tenfold
Now she was next to you, in those vans, couches and floors
just shy of a year within this life
the girl in the crowd, became your wife

A family was started, new love and life had been created
The house was bought, for roots to be planted
The life of travel came to a halt, for any other reason would've driven you mad
Except for two sets of wide, bright eyes, now made you a dad
Home was different for you now, but music has burned itself to your insides
The lyrics you once gave a beat to every night---"Home is anywhere where your family resides,"
this is where music brought you, this it what it gave you

Without fail you always find your way back to it
Because when you found it, and before you knew
Music had made a home in you.
