A Little Chocolate Never Hurts

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I’ve chased dreams, I’ve read books

I’ve searched for meaning in quiet looks

But when the world feels cold and gray

Love and chocolate always save the day

Pre-Chorus

You can keep your fame and gold

I’d rather have a hand to hold

And maybe just a bite or two

Of something sweet to melt with you

Chorus

All you need is love, that’s true

But a little chocolate never hurts you

It’s the kiss after the fight

The midnight snack that feels just right

If love is the fire, chocolate’s the heart

Together they light up the dark

All you need is love, it’s true

But a little chocolate never hurts you

Verse 2

We’ve had our storms, we’ve missed some trains

We’ve danced through joy and cried through pain

But when you smile that crooked smile

I remember why I stay awhile

Bridge

So here’s to hearts and candy bars

To budding love beneath the stars

To knowing what the soul prefers

And adding sprinkles to the words

Final Chorus

All you need is love, that’s clear

But a little chocolate brings good cheer

It’s the comfort in the mess

The velvet yes in bitterness

Love is the song, chocolate’s the rhyme

They taste like hope every time

All you need is love, my dear

But a little chocolate brings you near
