Betrayal of an Angel

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

She came in light, with silver flame

A whisper cloaked in a sacred name

Wings like dawn, voice like rain

I never thought she’d bring me pain

Pre-Chorus

But stars can fall without a sound

And halos rust when truth’s unbound

I trusted grace, I bared my soul

But even heaven can lose control

Chorus

The treachery of demons, I could survive

Their lies are loud, their hate alive

But the wound that haunts, the cut that stays

Is the angel who turned her gaze

When light becomes the cruelest shade

And love forgets the vows it made

Oh, the treachery of demons is small

Compared to an angel’s fall

Verse 2

She knew the codes, the sacred signs

She sang the hymns between the lines

But in her eyes, a shadow grew

And I mistook it for something true

Bridge

Not every wing is meant to save

Some fly you high, then dig your grave

And when the holy turns to flame

You’re never quite the same

Final Chorus

The treachery of demons, I could forgive

They never claimed to help me live

But she wore light like a disguise

And kissed me with a serpent’s lies

So if you meet one dressed in white

Look past the glow, beware the bite

For the treachery of demons is known

But angels… they strike alone
