"A First Sign of the Beginning of Understanding is the Wish to Die".

Is there a positive side to death! Things you can't say out loud. Thoughts never spoken.

By Novel AllenPublished 7 months ago 2 min read

Within books, lore, fables and generational tales of old, we search for knowledge beyond ourselves, beyond the cosmos.

What lies beyond the beyond...locked within that which we assume is a black void of nothingness.

What lies beyond the river Styx as Charon ferries us to the realm of Hades.

How will we pay the oarsman, what will he demand for the life that we have lived.

Of whom or what shall we importune the unraveling of the truth of the beginning of our existence, before and beyond Eden.

We want, are fully owed, the explanation of the knowledge of death before it actually comes to claim us;

Intrinsically, inherently, always at the edge of our imagination is the thirst for knowledge.

The older we become, the more urgent the clamor to quench our thirst for this desire towards enlightenment.

Yet, should we allow this to consume our waking moments, distracting us from living and enjoying life to the fullest.

Most assuredly not...

Still, I deeply yearn to know all things, to be all things...

Like a newborn babe learning its first steps, so too, do I crave the potential to harness that vast and elusive spectrum of knowledge which exists just beyond my grasp.

I begin to read, yet the more I read the more I pant to understand the meaning of everything

I begin to research the different views of the masters of the spoken and written words...

Yet the more I learn from their collective wisdom, the deeper I descend into the inner sanctum of the unknown, that which I desperately need to comprehend.

The farther down into this timeless hell pit of bottomless knowledge that I spiral---

The more my desire to rise into a shining light of knowledge eludes me...

The more fervent the hunger for the ability to divine the meaning of being...

The more I crave, pine, and thirst for clarity, entreating the all-knowing to allow me to know it all, fully assimilate it all...

It is the more the integral, essential characteristics of it all escape my frenzied psyche.

Is it that first I must pass beyond the veil of this mortal world...

Before the mantilla and lacy film of concealment then shall lift from my eyes like a yashmak from the face of women forbidden to show their faces in public---

Blissfully freeing and revealing the natural beauty which waits like a trapped animal to be free.

Is it then a blessing to wish to die.

Is it a mistake to believe death the end of our mortal existence.

Should we embrace it as the next phase of our evolution...

When our eyes shall then be finally opened, allowing us to behold and comprehend... "The EVERYTHING All Encompassing".

AND "Is it a mistake to believe death the end of our mortal existence./Should we embrace it as the next phase of our evolution.../When our eyes shall then be finally opened, allowing us to behold and comprehend... 'The EVERYTHING All Encompassing'." 💙 THANK YOU for this glimpse of your QUEST! MY QUEST is my HOME in MUSIC, WRITING, THE ARTS... I will keep you in my thoughts!!! 💙
