1958 Ford Thunderbird
Full of ghosts

The words roar through
My brain at 3:00 a.m.
Like a black, glossy
1958 Ford Thunderbird Roadster
On a dark moonless night
On some lonely old backroad
in Middle Tennessee
Full of ghostly passengers
And memories
These words and thoughts
Do not belong to me
But they are persistent
And yearn to be expressed
Like Ricky Nelson singing soft
Romantic ballads on the radio
Evoking the desire to hold someone I love
And sway softly in the moonlight
The sweet, sharp smell of
Anticipation and yearning
Leaves me awakened and excited
By words and images
Making me feel somewhat pretentious
Yet unworthy
That these words have chosen me
As their vehicle

Nicely done. Love the nostalgia
Ms. Julie O ~ I'm so glad that I've discovered your 'Gifts' to all of us. *I've instantly subscribed to you when, by chance, I noticed the Thunderbird Tags on the edge of the 'Birds' fenders; probably the only one that notices such things? But, it so reminded my of a short that I've written, 'Generation Gap' I hope that you view it, just for a Giggle! - Vocal Authors Community - Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, California 'Senior' Vocal Author
