Day 2:
Christmas morning is always an exciting time, especially when you get to see the smiles on your child/childrens faces. Well the morning after we got Bloo was like that except, a lot more smelly and alot less smiling. The excitement of having a new puppy was still running through all our veins, however, we forgot just that, she is a puppy! Essentially she is a furry baby; and just like a baby she pooped, peed and was getting into things she was not supposed to.
The look on my daughter's face was priceless, when she realized that the warm, smooshy pile of brown she just stepped in was poop. The look was that of terror, disbelieve and like she saw a ghost all mixed into one. All she managed to squeak out that morning was, "Help." I was laughing so hard that my husband had to stop making breakfast and come help my daughter to the bathroom so she did not track it all through the house. Anywho, over the course of the night Bloo managed to poop three times in her room, pee in who knows how many spots, and chewed the bottom of the closet door, socks and toys. With all that she still managed to find a little time for sleep, at least I think.
After the initial morning fiasco and clean up, we realized that we had nothing for Bloo. We needed to go to the pet store but how was i supposed to know what exactly to get.I never realized how many decisions for dog food, collars, beds, bowls etc. there was. How do you know which is the correct decision? Do i get a seat belt for a dog? Do i put her in a dress? Like seriously what is the most affordable yet healthy food and who makes that call? I thought because I was already a mom and knew how to verify reliable resources for my kids that it would be a breeze to make those decisions for the puppy. Nope, that was far from the case. In the first 24 hours I changed her food products 3 times because I couldn't make up my mind and I was worried.
We headed out to the pet store finally. Bloo was frightened with all the people and other dogs in the store, however, she did find comfort on the bottom shelves. I still don't understand why she would rather be on the bottom shelf, rather than playing with the thousands of toys and treats they have. I can only assume that because of it being such a small space and covered, that she feels safe. At the ending of our store trip, when checkout came around, little did i know but i was going to faint at the price of the few things we picked up. We purchased a doggy bed, a box of treats, dog food, 3 toys, a new collar, a dog tag and a few rawhide bones. Ready for the cost? Yeah neither was I. $200 dollars. 200 american, green, crisp dollars is what we spent on 12 items; and everything but the bed, collar and dog tag wo\uld eventually be eaten or destroyed.
We got home and while my daughter was playing with bloo before bed, I was doing some research on how to train our new fur baby. At first I was looking for a trainer but after seeing those prices, I quickly changed my mind. I started with basic training. Potty/house training, sit, lay down. They all seemed easy enough and whilst they might be for other breeds, the internet pretty much keeps telling me good luck with your husky.
