You were loved
This is a baby pig on a transport truck, about to be unloaded at a slaughterhouse. She may look like an adult, but she's just six months old. She's been fattened up and selectively bred to grown as fast as possible, so that she yields as much flesh as possible when she's slaughtered.

Seymour the Carpet Snake.
Once there was a slippery snake known by the name of Seymour the carpet python. He was a lovely shade of green as green, in color. Seymour's usual habitat was the overgrown backyard of a family known as the Townsend's. They lived on a quarter acre block of land, which was joined to a native reserve at the end of their street. Therefore, it was very easy for Seymour the green as green , carpet snake to move around the backyard of the Townsend's. Seymour the snake slithered and slithered around the backyard, the family were used to meeting him on their lawn and their lunch and dinner guests were used to seeing him as well. At times, he was like a streak of green as green hightailing it across the backyard, as if he were being by some rather large predator who was going to eat him for dinner.

Kevin the Koala.
There once was a Koala by the name of Kevin, he spent most of his days eating leaves and sitting in a tree. Kevin had a friend by the name of Samuel, the rock wallaby. In many ways, it was an unlikely friendship, it crossed the boundary of different species and yet they were firm friends. Samuel too liked spending his days, eating and eating and then doing some thinking and thinking.

Christmas Passed
The holidays bore down with incredible intensity this year. What they were barreling toward I did not know. Two days before Thanksgiving our older little dog began to whimper like a pup. It was so cute and unexpected that the seriousness of the matter did not begin to set in immediately. She was favoring a foot. I brought her with me everywhere I could and kept her under close watch, supporting her or encouraging her as necessary. On Thanksgiving Day, she came along to see family and with an increase of tender care rode the ferry, snuggled, wandered around the house, saw her four legged domestic and livestock cousins and slept. The first time she touched noses with her goat cousin, they both perked up. After adventuring, she awoke with pep for a quick grab at a piece of turkey offered to her. Later that night, when visiting her goat cousin, he withdrew with wild eyes after smelling her nose as she rested in my arms.. On the way back, the chill, damp air bit as the ferry left the docks and we found a ferry worker to plea her case so that she could come up and rest beside us. In a warm blanket, she came and was offered snuggly support as we did a puzzle while sitting in a booth.

Should Some Vegans Not Own Pets?
First off, I would like to start off by saying this isn't a knock on the veganism lifestyle. I actually admire the fact that people are sticking to what they believe in and acting on their beliefs by changing their lifestyle. When I first heard of the term vegan, all I knew about it was the dietary restrictions. Of course not all vegans are the same. Everyone has a different reason for being vegan but for the most part its about eating food with no animal products.

When I was teaching preschool, I frequently brought in wild visitors for the children to observe. The secretary at the school got in the habit of checking out whatever I was carrying when I walked in the door. If it was a large jar or aquarium or other critter container her reaction was quite startling

The Worst Part of Losing a Pet Is Losing Them
One the hardest parts about having a pet is having to say ‘goodbye.' You have been with them throughout a good amount of time and you have created such a bond with them that you don’t want to have an ending with them having to leave you. It is one of the saddest moments that anyone has to go through, and it is crazy when you have to go through it because you know that it is going to happen. But you just be in denial because of loving your pet, and you just want them to live forever, even though we all know that it isn’t the case.
