Paws on My Heart
If it were not for Mollee and Dexter, I would not be alive today. Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with chronic PTSD, anxiety, and depression because of my time in the military. Over the years of having Mollee and Dexter, I did not know for sure I had PTSD until after Mollee passed away last November. My family and friends love me but only one understands me and she is not located extremely close to me, so Mollee and Dexter have been my support system for over a decade.

Today Dejai was graduating. Although it was only 5th grade, it was a big deal. Our family had experienced a great loss. On May 1st of 2017 my son passed away from a terminal asthma attack. In our culture, we celebrate the life left behind, not the void left inside of us. All we knew how to do was embrace one another and keep each other close.

It's been fifteen years since my dog passed away from old age, but I still have the memories. In 1993, my Aunt's Border Collie, Aurora, was pregnant, and she offered us first pick of the litter, once they were weaned. We also got to stay up late one weekend while they were born, but our parents hauled us home at around midnight.
