A Dog Named George
I have been a Correctional Officer for twenty seven years. In 2003, my little jail closed and I was relocated to a new jail an hour away from my home. Compared to my former jail, this one was huge, which I found a little overwhelming. That first year was a hard one. My marriage ended, I was suspended from work exactly one year later, in January 2014, and to make it that much more difficult, the day after my suspension, I moved to a new town of 2,500 people knowing not one of them. It was just myself, my two cats, a litre and a half of red wine every night, and my anger. Then depression set in for the first time in my life. I found myself staying in bed all the time.

Scraps
I had always wanted a speckled weiner dog. I didn't actually think they existed as I had never seen one before and I never thought to google one. In 2014 I moved into my own apartment and wanted a dog. I did not want to live completely alone. I began the search for my dream dog. I had low expectations on finding a speckled weiner dog so I looked into all types of the breed. I checked into my local shelters and even met several dogs but I had a gut feeling that I needed to keep looking. One day I happened on a Craigslist ad. All it said was that they were looking to rehome their wiener dog to a good family. There was no picture but I took a leap of faith and called the number.

My Very First Siberian Husky
It all started out with my boyfriend and I wanting to get a puppy together. I wanted to get a Pitbull puppy but he wanted a Siberian Husky. So it turns out that we got a Siberian Husky; after all I still did a get puppy, right? Well anyways, we were looking to get one since the winter of 2016 and we THOUGHT that we had found one and we paid the people for the puppy but it was all a scam! Both of us were so disappointed and hurt that we didn't get the puppy so we waited a little while to start looking again. Finally we decided to start looking again in April of 2017. We had been looking for most of April, then I finally found an ad on a facebook page.

My Very First Pup
It all started on a nice day in September 2011, when I got a puppy. My very own puppy, no one else's. I was about 12 or 13 years old, and my friends cousin had puppies that they couldn't keep so I offered to take one. I was so excited, I was determined to be the best owner I could ever be! I decided to name her Hershie, as she looked like the color of a Hershey's bar when she was smaller.

The Day My Puppy Died — My Biggest Regret
I remember it like it was yesterday, rather than many years ago. My puppy — I refer to her as a puppy, because she was only five years old — had been acting strange. I don't remember how it all happened, I just remember her laying on my bed, not moving. We all thought she was sick and that, if we gave her a few days, she'd be back to her energetic, fun-loving self again.

The Rescue Dog
Over a year ago now, my partner and I met and he had a beautiful Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Bullseye, Bulls for short. I found out from my partner that he was a rescue dog. Myself personally I love dogs, but Bulls was different to any other dog I'd had.
