dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Mastiff Life...
These gentle giants make amazing pups, people! Be prepared for big love, big slobber, big eats, big poops, & melting hearts! Mastiffs make great companions as they always want to be wherever their owners are. Hollywood literally follows me from room to room all over the apartment. Although they are huge indoors, they are super lazy and basically form a rug wherever they can carve out a spot underfoot. At the park, he has seemingly boundless energy! Running all over the place and sniffing all the butts! Mine is three and a half, and yet people still think he's a puppy when they see him galloping about.

The View From the Dog House Pt 16
The view from the Dog House is very different to actually being in the dog house, and we are very much in the dog house just now. We have apparently committed a crime most heinous—so much so that we aren't even going to tell you what it is. Suffice to say that Herself is livid, and has told us our pedigree in no uncertain terms. We are the worst chaps in the history of Teale Towers apparently. If we weren't in her life, apparently she would be so much better off as we are not cheap to run.

My Dog Buddy!
My dog Buddy is a rescue dog. We are not sure how old he is, or what his pedigree is, but he’s cute as a button. As near as we can figure he’s a Jack-A-Bee. That’s a cross between a Jack Russell Terrier and a Beagle (like Snoopy). He’s fuzzy like a Jack Russell, he has a very fuzzy snout with hair that sticks out everywhere and gets in his food or whatever he’s got his nose into. He also has very fuzzy feet; they almost look like clown feet. When I first saw him I could really see the Jack Russell in him. Now he looks more like a Beagle.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
When my eldest son, Dominic, was killed by a drunk driver on October 4, 2013, our family unit imploded, and we lost perspective in everything; time, value, and in each other. We gladly inherited Lucy, Dom’s young Border Collie, and she became my wife’s focus, walking her 10k every day. It meant Susan could be on her own, thinking about her dead son, and away from me.

Knowing the Right Time to Sell Newborn Puppies
In earlier times, people have weaned newborn puppies from the mother as early as six weeks or when they first begin to eat soft puppy food. This is not recommended especially in toy breeds. In these times, breeders tend to release puppies to the new owner at age 8-12 weeks. The toy size puppies are very fragile and need all the nutrients and vitamins that they can garner from their mothers. Much like newborn babies, it is essential that newborn puppies spend as much time with their mother as possible. Often the mother does not leave the puppies for the first twenty-four hours.

The View from the Dog House Pt. 15
We always remember Daddy's birthday even though he died five years ago when we were only two. Up to now, we have spent the week in which his birthday falls at the Bolthole, and had a quiet day during the course of which a bottle of champagne has bitten the dust. We, of course, are not boozy boys, but apparently Mr. Sweep, one of our predecessors, was very partial to a nip or two and on one notable occasion helped himself to someone's pint of beer whilst out in the pub. Apparently he also used to do the rounds when parties were held, helping himself from people's glasses. But not us!

The View from the Dog House (Pt. 14)
Some people say "Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits" on the first day of the month for good luck. Others say "White rabbits, brown foxes," whilst there are some who say "Pinch, punch first of the month." It will come as no surprise we are sure, when we tell you that at Teale Towers we say all three. However, it has to be the first thing a chap says after midnight and unfortunately, we missed it this time around. Well these things happen when a chap gets preoccupied.

The View from the Dog House (Pt. 13)
I, Scamp, the Pawsome one am mightily offended. I am told that I am going grey around the gills. I thought it was only fish who had gills? Going grey is for old people and I am only seven. O.K. - and a half but that is nothing! Even she who thinks she should be obeyed at all times isn't grey and she is ancient. But apparently my brown patches on my face are nearly white. They used to match the patch around my tail piece which is still vibrant thankfully, but what has happened to my face patches I can't imagine; maybe they just faded in all that sunshine.

Our Lost Dog
Recently we had to put our beloved dog down. He was thirteen. For me to call him a ‘dog’ in a sentence is hard because he has always been known as our baby. Every dog owner knows that their special pooch is special because that is what we do. Our Otis was extremely special. I often joked that he was more human than dog, and I firmly believe that he thought he was.

Getting a Puppy
I have been wanting a puppy for the longest time now. I already have a dog. He's an off-white Maltese named Fudge. We got him from my mom's friend and apparently he had been browner in color when he was a puppy, so they named him Fudge, but as he grew older he started turning white. He grew up around all his siblings and his mom and another dog that the family has, but he has been living alone for two years now since we didn’t have any other dogs, so now he gets jealous if there are other dogs, especially boy dogs since he is not fixed. He’s not very playful and likes to just lay around. He’s also a small dog, I like bigger dogs, but I love Fudge and would never get rid of him. But getting another dog is a huge change for him.
