The One Eyed Monster
The One Eyed Monster One morning as my family and I were walking out of church we saw a large crowd gathered around my friend Alisha’s truck. From a distance, I could hear exclamations like, “Awe, how cute!” We all went to see what all the fuss was about. It turned out that Alisha had brought a litter of kittens to church to find some loving homes. Being the youngest of four children, my siblings picked me to be the advocate. I took my job very seriously, feeling that the future of our family depended on me. I smiled really big and batted my long eyelashes as I politely made my plea. I even added a cute little shoulder shrug at the end for additional affect. My Dad said they would talk about it and proceeded to send my siblings and I to the vehicle. Clearly they didn’t want us interfering with this life altering decision. We anxiously watched and waited as my Dad attempted to convince my Mom it was a good idea. As you may have guessed, my Dad won the argument. Due to her grey complexion, we affectionately named Dusty. The instant we arrived home, the little ball of cuteness transformed into the one eyed monster. One of Dusty’s eyes was always looking for mischief, while the other was looking to see if anyone was watching.

The life of Bailey and Chloe
Chloe is a 2-year long-haired cat, and Bailey is a 2-year-old chocolate lab. Chloe is a rescue. My husband and I found her about a month before we were married alongside the road outside the village we call home. She was very sick and tiny. When we first saw her, she had a cold, lice, fleas, and eye infection. She was 8ounces, and about a month old, we guessed. She has come along way in the last two years.

Phantom
I have had many pets since I was a child. While I was growing up, we had cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, snakes, newts, budgies and I'm probably forgetting some. My dad was an animal lover and passed this along to us as children. He was a pretty fair man to humans too.

I thought what would it would be like if I could see a day in the life of my fur ball if I left a spy cam somewhere so I could record her and watch her day sometime while I am away and she is playing in the garage. This should be interesting. I do not see anything that could go wrong. Usually she is in my room unless I let her run free because where I am staying has all outdoor cats with a cat gate but she is not an outdoor cat.

Honey-Hearted
<3 Animals don’t get the credit that they truly deserve, and cats ESPECIALLY, do not receive their roses. It’s blatant when you put into perspective all that cats have contributed to humanity, going back from Ancient Kemet or Egypt, to modern day American cat videos all over the internet. Cats have a calm, dignified way of putting people at ease. Since even before humans ‘civilized’ (so to speak) Earth, cats and other animals have inspired them simply by way of being who they are. Some examples of the ways in which humans have picked up techniques from animals, are the rituals enacted by shamans from all around the world, who allow their bodies to adopt the animals anima, moving like the being, having been filled up with the spirit. Martial artists are also known to have based their styles off of animal forms and behaviors. In Norse mythology, a fylgja is an animal spirit who is tied to a person from birth, until death. It is believed that these spirits are an integral part of the self, and share many, if not most, lives together. This can be compared to the more well-known (but less accurate) ‘witches familiar’ in the new age community. For a more modern take on this theme, we can observe Pokémon, which is essentially a franchise that gets deeper into utilizing spiritual wildlife as a force for good, by seeing oneself in it, and applying these archetypal energies in a constructive way. In the western world, we also have Americans naming their professional football teams after panthers, eagles, jaguars, and many others. While this is almost assuredly an act of self and team empowerment, it too, gains from nature the very thing it seeks within. No matter how far humans will try to separate themselves from it, they just can’t seem to escape nature, because it is who they truly are.

The Day in the Life of Sooty the Cat
It was fairly safe to say that Sooty was a cat full of character. He spent his life defying the stereotype of a stubborn, hate-filled creature. Don't get me wrong, he was indeed a cat who often showed his disdain for myself and my family, yet he could never help himself from flouncing into our rooms demanding attention and love.

The Life of Poosey.
My Mum and Dad used to go out nearly every day and leave me home alone, but recently, Mum stopped going out. She came home early one day when Dad was already home and she started crying. Dad hugged her and I could hear her say...I've lost my Job! Job? Wonder what that is and how could she lose it? Thing is...now Mum stays at home and that means I don't get to do the fun things I did when they were both out.

Kitty Torino's Rabbit Challenge
I love my human, but she isn't the only lady in my life. By that I don’t mean having another female human. I am the neighborhood ladies man. The furry version of course. Right as my human lets me outside, I lay under the mating bush I have chosen, picking flowers with my mouth as a present for the next lady kitty that walks by. A new lady cat has come by the bush to stare at me as I lick my fur, deciding if they would like to get closer. The neighborhood black cat runs around trying to find food while spotting me under my bush. "Hello sir, have you seen any little rabbits around I can sink my teeth into?" she asks me. I wonder if she just stopped to ask in order to find a reason to talk to me.
