The Moment I First Saw Her
It was the year 2000, I can remember that sunny spring morning, as if it happened yesterday. I was all ready for school, just standing at the curb waiting for my school bus to arrive. It was about 7:15am, I recall that time because I was always able to watch 15 minutes of Saved By The Bell, before I needed to head outside, to catch the bus. As I was standing talking to some of the other kids, who took the same bus as me. I noticed my neighbour directly across the street, was holding this tiny little thing in her hand. I had no clue that cute little thing in my neighbour’s hand, would end up being my first pet kitten.

Our children were young when we were introduced to a kitten. A friend, a truck driver, had driven from a few states away before realizing that an orange tabby had somehow snuck into his trailer. When he saw us interact, he said through a teared eye, “This is what he needs. A family.”
