He's the reason we can't have nice things.....
I never imagined when my boyfriend, Tom and I picked up our little eight week old Australian Shepherd puppy that he would change our lives so much, for the better and make us so happy. But he did and he has also made us angry, worry, scared and so much more. Meeko came into our lives right after we said goodbye to my first dog, Kina. She was almost 15 years old and her health was failing. We made the hard decision to let her go be in peace and my heart was broken. Tom and I had been talking about getting a dog for a while, Kina had been living with my parents since 2008 when I moved. After losing Kina I told Tom that I didn't want to get another dog and at that moment I didn't know if I would ever want to get another one again. The thought of having to feel this pain all over again would be too much. We left it at that and didn't talk about it anymore.

Yard Wars: The Rise of Obi-Wan Catnobi. First Place in Pet Cam Challenge. Top Story - November 2020.
A long time ago, thirteen seconds to be exact but to Obi-Wan Catnobi that could feel like days, and in a galaxy far, far away, which was really just across the lawn, the princess’ words roared in his head: Help me, Obi-Wan Catnobi. You’re my only hope.

Hank the Hound Detective
On the top floor of an apartment building lived an old, wrinkly, brown, Basset Hound named Hank. He was the pet of the famous detective Billy Bass. To the humans, the name “Billy Bass” meant something, but in the pet world, it meant nothing. If you asked the parrot in the apartment next door, or the fish in the apartment below, they wouldn’t know who you were talking about. But if you mentioned the name Hank to them, well now, that’s a different story. The parrot would repeat the name and the fish would splash in his tank. “Hank” brought either admiration or fear, depending on to whom you were talking. Hank wasn’t just any dog, he was the famous pet detective.

Daisy and Poppy: The Princesses of the Pines. Third Place in Pet Cam Challenge.
Through years of growing up begging for a dog, my dad has always said he’d rather of another kid. I’d beg for a dog, year after year, sometimes trying to hint at it for a birthday or Christmas gift, but to no avail. I always got the same response - “I’d rather have another kid before I get a dog.”

Ringo and Starfire: Pets by night, party animals by day
Recently, I have noticed strange things when I get home from work. Things are out of place. Papers are strewn about and food is left on the counter. The pillows on the couch are scratched and chewed up. I was very curious as to what happened. I have a dog named Ringo and a cat named Starfire that I leave at home during the day. I knew that they did it, but I wanted to see how they committed such a crime. I decided to install a camera to see what went on when I wasn’t home.

The Intruders
The alarm clock is shrill, persistent, and uncompromising - waging war against the vivid dream that’s fighting to keep its hold on my consciousness. The dream slowly accepts its defeat, but steals away with both my mental clarity and my will to get out of bed. Until I see the time.

The One Eyed Monster
The One Eyed Monster One morning as my family and I were walking out of church we saw a large crowd gathered around my friend Alisha’s truck. From a distance, I could hear exclamations like, “Awe, how cute!” We all went to see what all the fuss was about. It turned out that Alisha had brought a litter of kittens to church to find some loving homes. Being the youngest of four children, my siblings picked me to be the advocate. I took my job very seriously, feeling that the future of our family depended on me. I smiled really big and batted my long eyelashes as I politely made my plea. I even added a cute little shoulder shrug at the end for additional affect. My Dad said they would talk about it and proceeded to send my siblings and I to the vehicle. Clearly they didn’t want us interfering with this life altering decision. We anxiously watched and waited as my Dad attempted to convince my Mom it was a good idea. As you may have guessed, my Dad won the argument. Due to her grey complexion, we affectionately named Dusty. The instant we arrived home, the little ball of cuteness transformed into the one eyed monster. One of Dusty’s eyes was always looking for mischief, while the other was looking to see if anyone was watching.
