Cocoa girl
In 2013, I moved my family to Chester, PA. I was aware of its reputation but I had seven people with whom I am responsible for housing and basic needs. We had been living under my mom's roof since late 2010 and I had just started on my road to sobriety after a decade of decadence, or so to speak. I was attending group, got some work and things were really good for a while. Eventually life brought my mother and I to a falling out and she evicted me from her house. There was a lot of personal stuff going on that isn't even worth remembering but the point is that I had to find living accommodations for my family of seven.

Saying goodbye
I don't think anyone is ever ready to say goodbye to their precious four legged best friend. I know I surely wasn't ready. But in September of 2019, I had to do this very thing. I had found her online, someone was moving out of state and couldn't take her. Her name was Jade. I fell in love with her the moment I seen her online picture. I knew she was exactly what me and my children needed. I drove and hour to meet her and instantly fell in love. She was very nervous at first. But a long the way back home she began licking me as if she also knew that she had found her forever home. She was a year old. A full bred Rat Terrier. So incredibly loving and smart.

The Witness
The leaves of the trees rustled in the soft wind as it entered the forest in the early dawn. The wind carried with it an array of smells all but alien to the inhabitants. Strange sounds, too, echoed in from the open ground just outside. Most of the residents, however, ignored the strangeness and went on with their daily rituals.

Cat Stories
Not so bright. As a kid we had a few different cats. One was not so bright. His name was Rambo. When he got locked in a room and wanted out, he wouldn’t claw at the door like most cats. He would back up to get a running start and ram the closed door. He tried to break it down.

The Food Chain- Are we really at the top?
I'm going to start with a simple question; Does anyone really have the right to decide what a soul is worth? Humans certainly seem to think they do. We have always considered ourselves the best species with the most intelligence but why? It can't be because we're at the top of the food chain, because Lions are at the top too. In fact, if we were to face one in a fight then the human would loose. So I keep asking myself this question; Why do we think we're better than every other species? Why do we feel that our lives are worth more than theirs? It can't be because we're more intelligent, because we're not. We are what we consider to be intelligent, but there is not only one kind of intellectual capacity. Perhaps some animals think it's funny that we can't survive without supermarkets. Or do we think they're not capable of thoughts like us? Animals are not here for us to use and manipulate as we wish, but are here to live alongside us. This is their home too but we are too selfish to even let them keep their "habitat" or like I said before, their home. They can do everything we can do and more, so why do they still, after thousands of years of fighting for minorities to be equal, have no real rights?
