Boats, Bandits and Birdseed
Let me start this off by saying that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing when it comes to photography and even less about photo editing. I just love doing it. One would think that after doing this hobby for over a couple years now that I would know something about the craft. If someone were to ask me technical questions about my camera settings, or how I go about choosing the lighting or colour scheme during my edits, I would mumble something incoherently, urgently point and scream about something random behind the person speaking to me and while they were distracted, I would run the other way, thus avoiding the need to explain my creative process. I mean, I still shoot in automatic mode on my camera – AUTOMATIC! I don’t even know why that’s undesirable, but I get a lot of boards on Pinterest suggesting I switch to manual mode.

From One Mother to Another
Living on a small farm had its disadvantages. There was always work to be done; and if you were present, you were expected to work – no matter your age. As a child as young as three, I was shown how to gather eggs from the chicken house; and I was milking cows before I started kindergarten. I even had a child-sized metal bucket so I could carry the milk easily. However, I never complained. It was just our way of life, and I did it because it took everyone to make it work smoothly.

The Benefits of Wag Walking
You leave for your day with all intentions of making it back to care for your Animal Companion; however, the day takes another turn while you are away. It could be a list of numerous 'things.' What do you do? You know your "Buddy" needs to go potty, maybe go for a walk, needs to be fed, or even medication...

On Parenting and the Loss of a Pet
Two days before Thanksgiving we had to euthanize Jerry, our twelve-year-old gray tabby. He was diagnosed with lung cancer last March, so we were both lucky and happy to have him with us for as long as we did. That said, I'd been struggling with his absence in ways that I haven't with other losses, both human and animal.

Devil Chicken
Brady turned their head towards the sound of rustling. Their eyes scanned the edges of the reeds and cattails for a moment before a plain brown mallard shook itself from the dried out stalks. Brady’s shoulders, which had been inching closer to their ears out of hopeful anticipation, relaxed back down at the sight of the common duck. Taking offense to the realization it was being watched or, possibly, the disappoint on the face of its voyeur, the mallard turned and swam away quacking loudly. Brady considered the similarity between its call and a child with a kazoo for a moment before bringing the binoculars to their eyes. They focused the sight on a gaggle of waterfowl toward the center of the lake. Not finding the loon they had seen the previous week they dropped the binoculars down on the grass next to them.

Nature is a Million Questions. Top Story - March 2021.
It was a Tuesday morning early in June; the sun warm and bright promising a lovely afternoon. I was checking the oil in our tour bus when I felt my sleeve being pulled gently. I turned to see an elderly lady – obviously a tourist here for a visit. “Hello” I said acknowledging her contact.

Fetching Fluffy
Ruth MacPherson was Delmont Security’s richest client. Almost every weekend she brought her private security team on some type of getaway. Most times somewhere hot, other times somewhere not-so-hot. This weekend’s getaway was none other than Tahiti. Too hot to wear a uniform all day, but worth it to work for Ruth.

Little Weezy
The past 48 hours have been such a blur to me. You often hear people say things like, “life can change in an instant”, but until you experience it, you really don’t realize how true it is, or how some things we call “random”, are not random at all. I’ve never been the type of person to believe in miracles, I’m not even religious, but I can’t deny the life altering set of events that happened this weekend.

A day in my life trying to work and raise a puppy
I have to tell you about my day...I need to get it off my chest so that I can move forward with my life. As some of you know, I have a new puppy. At 9 months, he is about 87 pounds now and comes up to my waist. He is a mix of something and something, but looks like a hairy lab or maybe a golden retriever? I am convinced that he is a mixture of wolf, flying squirrel, and what ever animal can dig a hole to China from Alaska. He also loves catching bees and other flying creatures like birds, fly's, and attempts to take down every airplane that fly's overhead. This is inconvenient as we live by the airport.
