Watered Whiskers
Being a pluviophile, the first warm spring rain is my favorite time of the year. Once I step out the door of my house and smell the fresh, clean air and the scent of water on the black top, I feel free, recharged, and relaxed. If it were my choice I would take that moment and package it into a bottle I could wake up and smell every day...but not today. I have to get into my beat up SUV that for some reason has the smell of old wet gym socks rather than fresh spring rain.

The Silent Epidemic
As a reptile rescue, we have seen the trends come and go. Fluctuations in what reptiles are "in" and what are on the down-slide. Originating countless years ago, when the reptile trade began, there was little knowledge of husbandry, and as a result, many of these reptiles died of bad practices. Let alone the fact that many of the "captive" reptiles at the time were wild-caught and forced into the pet trade. Once again, we have seen a new trend that we fear has contributed to the rise in uneducated reptile owners, the COVID-19 Pandemic. For many, this doesn't seem like a likely contributor. But let us tell you why it's the complete opposite.

I can't imagine living without them
I've never thought of myself as a cat person until one day my sister called me to tell me about this one skinny gray cat with an injured eye. I knew nothing about cats and how to take care of them. Neither did she. Even so, we decided to rescue her and give her a forever home.

Donkeys deserve better
For what seems like forever, donkeys have been treated like a bit of a joke in the media and literature. From apathetic Benjamin in Animal Farm, to depressed Eeyore in Whinnie the Pooh and annoying Donkey from Shrek - is it any wonder why donkeys have an image problem?

Sweetheart - Named by Nature
December 12, 2018 I was driving home from work exhausted. I had worked a 12 hour shift and have an 1.5 hour commute each way. I just wanted to get home and hopefully get a little sleep before the Body shop called to tell me that my van was ready. 22 days before a deer ran into the right front passenger side of my van and did $5800 in damage. I had been in a rental car since and was anxious to get MY van back.

The day you moved in
I love animals! They have been part of my life since I can remember. Dogs, cats, goats, horses, bunnies, fish, more cats, more dogs… a whole array of species have crossed my path and I can’t say that any of those has been a bad experience. Sad, perhaps, because their place in my life ended too soon, but never have I had any regrets or bad memories. I’ve never been afraid of them (even the scary-looking ones). In fact, I love animals so much that I made my business all about them.

Stealth Fur and Nose Art
This old girl has dried my tears, and caused a few too. She was there for the worst expereinces of my life, and the best. She gave me strngth when I thought I'd falter, and reminded me that I was worthy of love, even when I couldn't see it myself. She's been a part of my life longer than I've had my kids, and nearly as long as I've been married.

Not An Elephant, But As Noisy As One
My husband and I had planned on getting a cat, we just didn't expect it so soon. But well, things happen. It's March 2020, we're engaged, we've just managed to move the tiny house we bought into my parent's backyard. And the week before we had watched a nature documentary about elephants on Disney+. This will be important later.
