Tuxedo Alago
Tuxedo Alago The Loving Playmate By Roberto Alago Few dogs I have met in my life are as friendly and playful as Tuxedo was. While his full name was Tuxedo Quantavious Jackson Alago; we called him Tux; for short. When my son and his wife rescued Tux from the Cobb County pound, they had gone there to look for a cute little fluffy Maltese or similar canine for my daughter-in-law. Instead, my son fell in love with this two years old Boston Terrier. So, they adopted it, named it Tux and shared their home with Tux for sixteen wonderful years.

Your Tommy is Waiting for You
I was a person who was extremely fearful of animals especially dogs. But my life took an unexpected turn and I happened to have a pet DOG whom I was extremely afraid of in the past. My story with Tommy went on something like this. Once I was walking home from College and I happened to saw a pitiful-looking dog who was sitting in the shade of a tree. As I was so fearful of dogs I passed by quickly. Then I again saw him the next day. This saw on for a week and I almost saw him daily but after one look, I passed by quickly, afraid of being bitten by him.

Batman: Finding Solace
It was all I needed. A new pup, just barely 6 weeks old, holding a loving gaze and victoriously wagging his tiny tail. I sipped my coffee from my plain black mug and felt the cool dew on the grass between my toes. This was the last morning I was going to do this alone.

Lo Mein
About a year and a half ago, I adopted my dog, Winston. He is a spicy little guy. I already had one dog, Cookie, and I wanted her to have a friend, especially when I was gone. She was a puppy at that time, so I wanted another dog around her age so they’d get along alright. I went to a local animal shelter, where I found Winston. His name was Bugs at the time. I soon came to learn why: he liked to eat bugs.

My FUR Family
In the beginning I did not want a fur baby. My husband said we need a cat. I argued that we did not need an animal. He argued we did. Well where we were living at the time wanted a pet deposit and monthly pet rent. I told him there was no way we could afford either one. He argued with me for two weeks. I told him it was not worth being broke to have a pet. He told me that he had figured out a way that we could have a pet without having to pay the three hundred dollar pet deposit. I told him there was no way. He proceeded to tell me about a program out there that would make it possible for us to get around a pet deposit called emotional support pet. I asked him to explain it to me. He said if one of us went to our doctor and talked to him about how it would be uplifting to have a pet. Explaining that having a pet would improve mental health. If one of us could do this it would avoid all fees. I called him a liar and told him that would not work. Well at this time they had just locked the country down for covid. I am not one that likes to be around a lot of people, so I thought this stupid virus was not going to bother me. Well that was so far from the truth. Not being around people by choice was so much different from being told you can not be around people. So we both made doctor appointments to get this supposed letter from the doctor. At this point I am still not understanding how this could possibly work. While we were working on getting these appointments everything was being done virtually . Ok now that we had appointments made it was time to have the dog versus cat talk. I said I wanted a dog. I started with health being reason number one. I said if I had a dog I would lose weight. Reason being all the walking that it takes to properly take care of a dog. He wanted a cat. He said his main reason for wanting a cat was because they were low maintenance. Well he got to see the doctor before me. That meant he got his letter before me. Because it was his letter that made it alright for us to get a pet he won the cat versus dog war in this house. Well he started looking on Facebook for a cat. He did not manage to find one cat he found a bonded pair of sisters. I was pissed. I did not want a cat and he just found two of them that could not be separated. These cats were hours away so I felt I dodged a bullet. We did not have a way to get to the cats. He told the lady that had the girls that we did not have a way to get them. She offered to bring them to us. It was a Tuesday right before our bible study when they got to us. The grey cat we named Sugar. That name fits her so well. She is my sweet tooth kitty. The black and white one is named Princess. It did not take them long at all to show me why cats rule. They help me so much more than I thought a cat could. I have MS and on days when I am in pain they have their ways of knowing how to help ease the pain. It seems no matter if my pain is physical or emotional they know just what to do. Sugar is more in tune to my pain. The cats are a heaven sent. There is nothing I would not do for my fur babies. I feel they saved my life more than me save theirs. Now I do not refer to them as cats. They are my daughters. My daughter are what keeps me going at times. I am so thankful for the girls. I think everyone should experience the love of owning a pet. They become so much more than a pet. They become family. I could not imagine life without my girls.

How Affection from My Emotional Support Animal Saved My Life
It's February 13th, 2020, and almost 9:00 on a Thursday evening, which means I am attending an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting that I don't want to be at because I just worked 10 hours. I let out an impatient groan in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church as a person speaks at the podium. Everybody seems so happy at AA meetings, but I have never been sober long enough to feel that happy. Despite feeling depressed, I was piecing together a decent amount of sobriety. I was lonely, missing my dog Dolly, and barely able to afford to feed myself. No matter how hard I tried, things always just seemed to get harder.

Miss Maggie
Miss Maggie The love affair began with my best silk blouse being ruined. I had come to the shelter after work. As I passed a cage, a paw shot out from between the bars and snagged my sleeve. Carefully, the sharp claws were removed, but the damage was already done.
