Velorenstad
I was travelling in my grandfather’s car to the city to begin my first year of university and impulsively decided to take a scenic route and drive down some dirt roads. They would lead me on a more direct path to the new city than the highway which would take me in a semi-circle and hit some larger towns on the way. When I was two hours away from the city and it was nearly dark, my passenger side tire blew while I was on a right directed bend in the road. My car turned hard to the right, slid sideways, and then shot off the road and into a tree in the ditch.

My Perfect Crime
A new boy moved to my school on the first day of grade four. Everyone was excited to meet him and find out more about him. Our teachers told us that his name was Tyler, his family had just moved to town in the summer and that he was very allergic to peanuts, so a note was being sent home that anything with peanuts or peanut oil could not be brought to school.

Lakeside Escape
My week off started by renting a secluded cabin from Airbnb. Lakefront view from an enclosed deck, lots of trees, and a promise of wildlife sightings. I had booked it for a week, needing to get out of the city, disconnect, and clear my head. I hadn’t written anything in months. I had been so drowned in everything going on around me, that I felt I was suffocating. Writing was never going to make me rich but it got me out of my life and into my head, which is what I needed...desperately. There was no internet at the cabin, but there was power, so I still packed my laptop. I preferred to write out my ideas and then type out the actual stories. The ad on airbnb also said there would be a spotty cell reception, but there was a better signal five kilometers up the road if I needed anything.

Living?
We are being watched. Privacy is a laughable thought because we are always watched. If you want to be a part of modern civilization, you will accept this fact. With the use of cameras, GPS and microphones in smart watches, phones and smart glasses\H.U.D’s, there is never a time that you are not being listened to or when your location is unknown. The truly maddening part is that we not only allowed this to happen, we made it happen. People were worried about being tracked with microchips implanted under their skin but then chose to carry them in their devices without a second thought.

Alone on the Ocean
Entry One 14/06/1719 A castaway, I have been adrift, no oars, no navigation, just some rations and the endless ocean for two days. My ship sank and my fellow crewmen are presumably dead. When we fell under attack, I had readied a lifeboat and what rations I could. As everyone was preparing to abandon ship, a cannonball struck our mast which toppled and forced the lifeboat I was in to fall. When my small boat struck the water, the oars flew out and became lost to me. While the pirates murdered my crewmen, raided and sunk our ship, I drifted away...silently.

She Chose Me
When I was fourteen years old, Boots, my adopted three year old farm cat, developed feline leukemia. We had to put him down, and I was heartbroken. He had been my little buddy and had been so full of energy until his last week. As any pet owner knows, you can never replace a previous pet, but when a friend encouraged me to check out some rescue kittens a few months later, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a kitten to cuddle again.
