Midnight
I adopted her when she was young. I don't know how old she was. But she was still a puppy I know that. Her original name was Julie. We had to change it, my aunt's name is Julie we didn’t want to get confused. So we changed it to Midnight. Midnight was a sweet girl, she was my favorite dog. I had other dogs at the time. Come to think of it, I had a lot at the time. I had Dallas, my Bullmastiff. I had Buddy, my Corgi. And I don't recall, if I had Paris at the time, but I know she wasn't around then. Paris was my Boxer. Anyway, back to Midnight. The story went, that my dad had known two college girls, they found her in a pool an empty pool she was whining, wanting to get out. So the girls, told my father, he said, and I quote “Oh my wife, she's good with dogs we’ll take care of her until we can find her home.”

The Story of Meatball
Eight years ago in a local pet store was a litter of abandon kittens. My grandma had chosen this cute calico that she wanted for Mother's Day. I noticed everyone looking at the other kittens and ignoring this little, rambunctious ginger who was chubby and attacking his litter mates. Since the kittens were so tiny, they had to bottle feed them and we had to wait to pick them up for a couple of weeks. I lived with my grandpa at the time who I told about this cat he seemed uninterested. I went back every day to check on the little orange cat and still no one was interested in this ginger boy. The big day came to pick up the calico my grandma wanted; I should tell you my grandma had her own apartment, so I asked my mom to call and ask my grandpa if I could get this cute kitten not telling him the color. He really didn't want me to have it saying well she has to take care of it. So I told the lady I was taking the baby ginger and she gave him to me for free because he was unwanted. I took him home and my grandpa wanted to see him so I pulled him out of the little box. My grandpa's face lit up like it was Christmas. "You didn't tell me he was a yellow cat! I love yellow cats." That was that, Meatball had actually bonded with my grandpa but I didn't mind; he had a home and since I lived there I took care of him. He would get in the dryer so we would have to watch every time we switched the laundry. My grandpa was paralyzed, so we had a manual lift that Meatball would ride it till it went under the bed. Meatball was quite the character. From the good times to when he was a terror knocking things off my table stand because he wanted attention; he has mellowed though. Now a year ago, my grandpa passed and I inherited him back. Now we bond everyday and I can't imagine my life without Meatball, he truly brings happiness to all he knows. It's been a year since it has been just me and Meatball. He cuddles with me when I'm sad and when I am having an off day, he lets me pet him. I love taking pictures of the old man. Then my aunt Mary Ann told me about this group on Facebook where I can show his pictures. I was a little scared because he is a big cat, back then 28 pounds, although when I inherited him I think he was 30. So I snapped a photo of him and people instantly commented on his picture of how handsome he was. That one picture changed his life. He has his own Instagram with 14 followers @meatballalexander and on Facebook his page has over 800 followers. If you're interested, just search Meatball Alexander the cat. I am also going to write a children’s book about his adventures. It may seem odd, but as his life changes so does mine. I’m glad people like him and that I can share him with people who appreciate the lives of animals. I would be lying if I told you that I did not enjoy taking pictures of Meatball to share with everyone, but I do. Meatball helps bring joy into my life even if he is just laying in his bed doing absolutely nothing. Occasionally he plays with a feather toy, or chase the other cats; other than that, he is my perfect cat.

How a Chihuahua Changed My Life
I've always been a dog person. I can't remember a time in my life that we haven't had a dog. This being said, there are some breeds that I really haven't had the best experiences with. And yes, chihuahuas fall heavily into this category.

1 Rabbit, 2 Rabbit, 3 Rabbit... 6?!?
So one day my boyfriend goes to a pet store with a friend. He calls me and says I really want to get this bunny, it’s so sweet, and texts me a picture. After we both fall for this adorable fur ball, he finds out the bunny has been put on hold and is not available for sale. The following week, we decided to pay this pet store another visit to see if it had any more bunnies for sale. To our surprise they had a few including two Netherlands Dwarf rabbits that were 2-months-old. One male and one female. We had to have them! We purchased the whole shabang, large cage, bedding, food, Timothy hay house, food bowls, etc. As we drove home we decided on the name Marshall for the boy as we both love Eminem. After searching online I picked the name Lily for our girl Netherlands Dwarf. A few minutes after choosing both names I realized we named them Marshall and Lily like the couple on the popular TV sitcom How I Met your Mother. Although this was just a coincidence it was pretty cute and we decided to stay with the names. This was my first experience as a rabbit owner. As with any new project this day in age I hit the web to do some online research on how to best care for my new family members.

5 of My Favorite Dog Breeds. Top Story - October 2018.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with animals in one way or another. Currently, I am a senior pre-veterinary student at the University of Connecticut, so clearly the medicine aspect won out. However, animal behavior was a close second. I really enjoy learning the personalities of different animals, and the best ways to react to and train them. Dogs and the differences between their breeds especially interest me, because every breed has some significant differences to learn about. These differences make them best suited for different types of families, and it's best to do your diligent research before deciding on an animal to add to your family.

Cat Café? What Is That?
Do you love coffee? Do you love cats? What about drinking your coffee while petting a cat? If that sounds interesting, then a cat café may be for you. Cat cafés are exactly what they sound like, a place to get a cup of coffee, possibly a muffin, and spend time with cats. Places such as the Purrvana Café & Cat Lounge in Savannah, Georgia or Java Cats Café in Atlanta have been becoming very popular in the past five to ten years. In 2015, there were at least 24 known kitty cafes across the United States. Since then, more have opened and are thriving. Many of these locations host cats from local rescues to give them more face time with the public.

Humane Society
I one hundred percent want you to save an animal's life, and by no means want you to stop going to humane societies to find a new family friend. Their background checks are fairly good and you can be assured they will go to a good home, and you are guaranteed a good pet, considering most don't make it. By all means, please go pick up animals from the humane society.

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog
The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a sub-type of American bulldog created in the 1980s by a woman from Rebecca Georgia named Lana Lou Lane. There are many different stories of the breed's origin that range from a lost breed in the isolated mountains of Georgia to a pitbull mix running down the road and being bred by a Catahoula cur. From the DNA testing that has recently begun and the pedigrees in existence, we can safely surmise that the Alapaha is founded from various lines of American Bulldog, Colby lined Pitbull Terriers and a dog carrying the merle gene, most likely a Catahoula or a Dane.
