A canine friend can change your life for the better, but to be a good mistress, you should choose the puppy's breed carefully. This increases your chances of having a good relationship with your future quadruped.

Of course, your lifestyle and living conditions are important. An active dog needs more space, and whatever breed you choose, you will have to spend time with it, otherwise, it will feel lonely.

But there is one equally important aspect: your personality. Depending on your personality traits, some dogs are better suited than others. Here are some traits that you can have as a master and which are the ideal dog breeds, depending on them:

You are patient and like to take care of animals

If you are excited about the idea that you will be able to try different haircuts on your pet and can't wait to feed him, then you are in luck.

You don't have to limit yourself to dogs with short, small, or medium fur, but you can choose from a greater diversity of breeds. Examples of fluffy dogs that can be cut include Pomeranian, Poodle, Yorkshire Terrier, Shih Tzu, and Bichon Frize.

When it comes to food, it's not as big a problem as it used to be. Even if you choose a large dog, such as a German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Collie, or Akita, it is not necessary to go to the pet shop and carry large quantities of the food yourself. You can order dog food online, which will be delivered directly to your door.

On the other hand, slightly easier to maintain dog breeds are Dachshund, Greyhound, French Bulldog, Chihuahua, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, or Mastiff.

You are active and energetic

If you like to do sports or simply exercise outdoors, you need a dog to keep up with you. Otherwise, you may have to carry the tired dog in your arms if it is small.

Examples of active and energetic dogs include Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Shetland Sheepdog, Dalmatian, Russell Terrier, Siberian Husky, Golden Retriever, and Border Collie, according to AKC.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to relax and avoid the hustle and bustle, you can opt for a more lazy dog, such as English Bulldog, French Bulldog, Shih Tzu, Basset Hound, or Pug.

You are extroverted and sociable

If you are a sociable person, it will certainly not be a pleasant experience for your quadruped to bark at dogs or other people when you walk him in the park. Instead, it is ideal to aim for a race as friendly as you are. Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Pudel, Pug, Boston Terrier, Beagle, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel may suit you, according to I Heart Dogs.

On the other hand, if you prefer a dog oriented towards guarding and protection, rather than socializing, you could opt for Bullmastiff, Doberman pinscher, Rottweiler, Komondor, or German Shepherd.

You are a person who appreciates attention and affection

Before choosing a dog, you should decide what to expect from it: Do you want a loving dog that will keep you company for hours or an independent dog that will give you more freedom?

In the first case, it is good to know that the most affectionate dog breeds are Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Pit Bull American, Brussels Griffon, Collie, Great Dane, English Bulldog, and French Bulldog, according to Bark Post.

In the second case, the dog breeds with a higher degree of independence include Akita, Alaskan Malamute, Scottish Terrier, Shar-Pei, and Siberian Husky.

Do you like dogs? Which is your favorite dog breed and why?

For example, I always wanted a Husky, but I never bought one. I will have one when I will move to a bigger house.
