You Can Do Each and Everything

The quiet power of believing in yourself, one small step at a time

By Fazal HadiPublished 6 months ago 3 min read

I used to believe that some dreams were meant for other people. You know, the ones with perfect résumés, unshakable confidence, or connections in the right places. People who “have it all together.” I’d look at them and think, That’s just not me. I thought I wasn’t enough—smart enough, brave enough, good enough.

But the truth is: no one has it all together. Not really. And “enough” isn’t something we’re born with. It’s something we build. That’s what this story is about—how I came to learn that I really can do each and everything. And so can you.

The Voice That Said “No”

The voice of doubt isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it whispers so quietly you don’t even realize it’s there. For years, it showed up in subtle ways for me:

“Don’t apply for that job, you’re not qualified enough.”

“Don’t speak up, what if you say something stupid?”

“Don’t try, what if you fail?”

Those voices felt like self-protection. But in reality, they were self-sabotage dressed in comfort.

I started seeing a pattern: I’d talk myself out of opportunities before I ever gave them a chance. I wasn’t failing because I wasn’t good enough—I was failing because I wasn’t trying.

The Day Everything Shifted

It wasn’t a grand moment. No standing ovation or motivational seminar. It was just a regular day. I was sitting in a coffee shop, journaling, when I wrote a sentence that stopped me cold:

“What if I believed in myself the way I believe in others?”

I had always been that friend who cheered others on, who saw their potential clearly. But when it came to myself? I had a blind spot.

So I decided to try an experiment. For 30 days, I’d say “yes” to myself—not blindly, but intentionally. I’d pursue one small thing each day that I normally talked myself out of. I called it The Daily Yes.

It started with small things:

Speaking up in meetings.

Posting my artwork online.

Sending a pitch to a blog I loved.

Signing up for a local storytelling night.

Day after day, “yes” grew easier.

Proof That You’re Capable

What I discovered was simple, but powerful: Confidence is built through action, not overthinking.

Each time I tried something new—even if I was scared—I collected evidence that I was capable. Even when things didn’t go perfectly (and many didn’t), I learned that failure didn’t destroy me. It taught me. It helped me grow.

We often wait to feel “ready” before we move. But readiness doesn’t come from waiting—it comes from doing.

You Can Do Each and Everything

Let’s break this down. “Each and everything” doesn’t mean you have to master it all at once. It doesn’t mean perfection. It means that whatever you set your heart and energy toward, you have the power to learn, grow, and move forward.

Here’s what helped me along the way—and maybe it’ll help you too:

Start ridiculously small.

Want to write a book? Start with one sentence. Want to run a marathon? Lace up your shoes and walk. Progress is built brick by brick.

Talk to yourself like you would a friend.

You’d never tell your best friend, “You’ll never succeed, so don’t bother.” Why say it to yourself?

Failure is feedback, not the end.

Every setback is a step forward in disguise. You learn what works, what doesn’t, and most importantly, what you’re made of.

Comparison is a distraction.

Your journey is uniquely yours. No one else has your story, your voice, your gifts. Don’t let someone else’s timeline make you question your path.

Celebrate every win—even the tiny ones.

Did you do something that scared you? Did you keep going when it got hard? That’s progress. That’s courage. Honor it.

The Truth I Wish I Knew Sooner

You don’t need permission to believe in yourself.

You don’t need someone to “choose” you.

You don’t need to wait for the stars to align.

You already have what it takes to begin. Not because you’re perfect, but because you’re willing. That’s all it ever takes.

Final Thought: A Quiet Revolution

Believing in yourself isn’t loud. It doesn’t require fireworks or applause. It’s a quiet revolution that begins the moment you say, “I’m going to try.”

One small action at a time. One step forward, even if your knees are shaking.

So here’s what I hope you’ll remember from my story:

Moral of the Story:

You don’t need to be fearless. You just need to be willing. The power to change your life is already in your hands—waiting for you to say “yes.” You really can do each and everything, one brave moment at a time.
