WHY YOU ARE SCARED TO TRY
Fears Kills Dreams
Have you ever wanted to talk to someone you like so bad or study for an exam you've been having tough time with but gave up before you could even start, saying to yourself they won't like you back, it's not possible I won't pass
That's what it means to be scared to try and there are reasons why we are scared to try.
What does it mean to try?
make an attempt or effort to do something. To try does not necessarily mean you'll get it at first attempt, but that there's hope.
There's a saying that goes - "it's better to try and fail than not to try and fail"
Unknown
There are reasons to why people are scared to try, and I myself was once scared to try, I had my reasons and that you'll find out soon.
You’re reading this because you want to make moves but it’s easier to make excuses because it’s scary to take the first step. I feel it is more valuable to share the reasons why we are afraid to start or try, because you can't slove a problem if you can't identify the problem.
I surveyed around and with some personal experience these are some reasons why you are scared to try
1. Failing
2. Commitment
3. The unknown
4. Not being perfect immediately
5. Putting themselves out there
1. FAILING
Failing is a word that's been embedded in our heads and hearts since we were kids, an overcoming idea we've been customized to keep away from. We call individuals disappointments. We let kids know that they bombed tests and are bombing classes. We tell individuals they have bombed connections and relationships.
Alot of people are scared to take action because of the fear or thoughts of being called a failure.
We let the word failure stand in our way rather than seeing it from a different point of view
We need to understand that failure can be a positive thing, Without trying something you never can tell it's the right path you're taking
I believe failure is the end of you if you fail to try or you give up. I encourage you to start failing it not only shows you are making moves but that you are almost there. If you doubt check the greatest men alive today, check their history, and you'll see that FAILURE COMES BEFORE SUCCESS.
2 COMMITMENT
Commitment doesn't only apply in a relationship, you see commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. Meaning you are to be held accountable to something, putting much effort and work in achieving your result.
It isn't easy, I can understand the fear of commitment where immediate results are rare and alot of hard work is put into it, but nothing having comes easy, you have to put away your selfish ways to get the job done.
A person who commits to a passing a math exam for their WAEC will have to work hard multiple times a week by going through pain and suffering at their personal time studying. They have to sacrifice their tv or video game time to invest into getting off the couch and actually studying. They will have to form new habits of reading and solving which is a whole new level of responsibility.
Commitment brings change, a change that breed consistent progression and growth. It builds momentum and provides clarity in the direction to your vision.
I assure you that person who's been studying to get a better grade in WAEC and is keeping to the goal, is seeing change and progress. And will surely get to the goal.
3. THE UNKNOWN
This actually is my favorite. I was once scared of trying, not because of people calling me a failure or stuff like that, but because I can't tell the end. You know it's hard to start something you can't forsee an outcome.
All my life I did things I was sure would end well. I don't take risks and definitely don't do anything I'm not 99.9% sure of.
Seriously who wants to go into anything blinded?, you are not sure of the risks or what the backlash could be, what you have no idea of, definitely the reward is hard to see.
I was working for someone else, he paid not enough but fine to sustain me, I didn't like the job, it was time consuming, I didn't have enough time for my younger ones. I was working more than I was being paid, it was exhausting especially when there inflation in the country. Prices of goods Increased but my salary was same. So I hated my job even more. But I couldn't leave because it's hard to get a job and I was scared what might happen if I left, but I couldn't tell at then so I was so scared.
I never knew leaving the job would make me wanna learn a skill and start something for myself. I was scared cause I didn't know what would come next, I always wanted to have the upper hand so I could control my situation.
But that's not how life works Sometimes I look at my past and am amazed I could get this far.
4 NOT BEING PERFECT IMMEDIATELY
You know that feeling when if you are not the best it's useless doing it. You might not get this one but I've seen some people who actually think this way.
Let me break this down more for you, this particular set of people want to do everything correctly at their first try, they don't want the long term work because they are somewhat pressured by their innerself. Everything is a competition to them. And if they are certain they wont be perfect they don't go for it.
It's not their fault actually, this is caused by either parent who give their kids tough time, filling their heads with how they must succeed or they fall.
This is basically similar to the fear of failure. But rather they are scared of not being best immediately.
Just like a child who rides a bike without training wheels it took a lot of falls wounds and scars before he or she could finally ride into the sunset.
It's a process you have to pass through that process
5 OURSELF OUT THERE
Putting yourself out there is huge so it's normal to fear the possibility of being ridiculed or looking silly.
In a world where you are easily criticized, of course you become self conscious not to do anything stupid. But you need to know that the people who critizise you are people who were not able to make their dreams come true
You should understand that you putting yourself out there makes you a giver but a large percentage of the world are takers and you shouldn't fall for their tricks.
See this is the most rampard kind of fear that keeps us from trying, but no body notices cause it's so normal that people can't realize it's stopping them from achieving greatness.
These fears all begins from our minds, let's control our thoughts cause our mind is a powerful tool and we need to take advantage of it.
THERE ARE SIX THINGS I WANT YOU TO TAKE NOTE OF:
It's all in your head.
Leave your daily routine and do something that might actually surprise you.
You can't be perfect instantly, just enjoy the process.
Fear keeps you in your comfort zone, break it off.
People will talk bad when you take a step or not, so just do it anyway.
Commitment requires more work, results are hard but brings progres
Finally make MISTAKES
make it LOUD
make it PROUD
cause that's how you'll learn.
If you enjoyed this, share and stay updated for more.
BYEEEEEEEEE.
