Why Me?

We make the "right" choices, yet things still go wrong.

Before the pandemic started I attended a Women's Group, we all talked about our hardships and joys. One women was going through a tough time with her partner and was asking "Why me? What am I suppose to learn from this?"

How many of us have asked this before after a bad break up or lost opportunity? I am going to go ahead and say pretty much everyone. I know I have countless times. The "Why" to our hardships usually comes with time, especially when they are consequences of our poor choices.

But, what if you think back and you find that you have made the "right" choices? That any lesson you can learn you already learned in another hardship? That you thought about it carefully and looked at pros and cons before making the choice and things still ended horribly wrong?

Well I have the answer, are you ready for it? The answer is NOTHING! You are not suppose to learn anything because it is not your lesson to learn. I am going to tell you what I told that woman. Maybe your partner is the one that needs to learn a lesson and you are just along for the ride. If they cheated, if he/she is ungrateful, if he/she is being a bad father/mother, if he/she wants to leave, and you have done all that you can to forgive, talk, meet him/her half way, etc. Then that person will learn something from you leaving them, or if they are ill they will learn that you are there for them when no one else is.

We tend to forget that the world does not revolve around us and that every bad and good thing we might encounter is not exactly for our benefit or dismay. We are also a part of someone else's life and choices and we may compliment their life or not.

Back to my Women's Group night, that woman looked at me cried and gave me a hug. What I said it resonated with her like it had resonated with me when I was searching for the "Why?" of my problem and going through my marital problems.

I hope this has resonated with you and know that you are worthy of more and are strong and will come out on top in the end. There is no such thing as failure when you do your best for you.
