Welcome to my new journey. The above picture is where I want my office to be very soon. How can one establish that you may think? Well I may not be an expert in any one thing but I do know a little something about a lot of things. You see when you work 50+ hours a week for almost 30 years you become to realize just how much of your life has been wasted. I have gained a lot of knowledge over the years being in the business management and finance fields but the one thing I never thought about, not even for a second, was how important mental health is too. Now that I am staring down the barrel of my 46th birthday I have to make a change. This is my journey and I feel others need to hear it too.
So who am I? My name is Kevin Hosford. I have always had interest in writing. I wrote a lot when I was in middle school and high school but I never thought I could get paid for it. I never had glamorous jobs. There was sports cards, snowball stand, gas station (midnight shift), life insurance and finance companies, but through most of it I was managing a pizza place. Sure I made decent money but never really saved a lot of it. I wish I knew then what I know now.
When I was in school not a lot of classes were offered on how to save money and what steps to take to make money work for you. This cost me several decades of valuable time. Working with younger people now I learned they still don't teach the necessary material everyone should know. This is troublesome. I believe financial well being and mental well being go hand in hand because one of the main reasons people struggle mentally is due to money and finances or the lack there of.
I am hoping that my studies of financial help and self improvement articles and stories will help others improve their way of life, finances and ultimately live richer and more fulfilled lives! In my upcoming series I will be both writing and making videos for those who are audio learners or learn better by reading on their own. Some of the topics I will cover on the financial series is Basics of money, What should be done with your first paycheck, Living within your means, and a few on investing and the stock market, life insurance and even home buying tips.
I will also do several work out and eating healthy units. Feeling good is another positive way to help mental health. With the right diet and meal planning along with consistent exercising you can feel more energetic while losing weight. I will talk with some friends who have been on a vegan diet for over a year also talk with someone who has been alcohol free for over a year. The transformations in their lives and their stories will be told.
The final part of my journey is reading self improvement books. A different book each month starting in February 2021 and going through December 2022. The first book I believe everyone should read is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. You can buy or download the books each mont hand read along with me as I give my synopsis of the book and have little lessons planned on what we have learned! This will be a fun upcoming and interactive series.
So in conclusion while I will be starting my own journey of a more enriched lifestyle I hope others will find value in what I am doing and would like to take the journey to a happier and more fulfilled lifestyle with me! My journey starts now! It's okay if you can not change all at once. The journey I am on will be in phases with financial happiness starting now, self improvement series in February and exercising starting in March. So follow along if you like because it will be a fun wild ride!
