Dear Heroes,
To all the heroes out there, where are you? Where were you when fires raged, floods plagued cities, and disasters struck? Where were you when people hoped and wished for someone to come save them, where were you. It took me a while to figure out this question, but eventually I found it, you weren't anywhere. A hero who can stop floods, fires, disasters, and save people in the blink of eye isn't real. We'd like to believe they are heroes, but our hope in that that wish turns on us making us no more than angry and bitter. It sounds pessimistic to say this, but there aren't heroes like that. What is out there though are people. Normal everyday people, who work, eat, live, breathe, sleep, cry, regret, laugh, smile, love, and feel just as you do. Some of those people fight fire, put up walls to prevent floods, invent medicine to stop sickness, there are people who do all of that or even go above and beyond. These people who do all these things are just people, they don't live in infamy or get statues in their honor they get a pay raise or a good job. People all around us do these things we compare heroes to, but in actuality, they are normal people. Heroes we think of are invulnerable, indestructible, and perfect beings, normal people are vulnerable, bruise, and flawed. Why should be in the same thought as heroes when they can't even compare? It's crazy to watch on T.V your favorite heroes and see them when all it takes it a wrong channel to shatter that reality of heroes. There are none. There is something though, out there reaching and expanding waiting to be set free. A person. Instead of wearing tights and clothes way too small for you, why not just be normal. Being a person goes a long way, you and me, we all can compare our hardships, our success, our failures, and best of all the snacks we all so love and enjoy. I don't think you could do that with the heroes we watch. Some may say a hero is just that people who go above what others do, but why put them above any one person. We all could do the things they do it's just in the matter of asking ourselves that question. Why can't we do it? We can do it. We can do amazing things if we only just look at ourselves like we do heroes we see. Whether it be a great act of empowering a mountains of people or a small one such as a simple compliment that goes a long way. One ripple and everything changes, everything goes from doubt to certainty. All we have to do is just be people. Why settle to be someone when you can just be you flawed imperfect you. Imperfections and flaws don't make people those things believing it does makes it. Accepting it means to draw hope from it, change is coming. All the heroes we see they started like us normal people, but they were already heroes they just needed more to see it. You do not need more to see yourself be a hero, look at you now that is a normal human being there and from I see of myself I am content. We don't need to do anymore than we already do it may enough but it was to me, to them, to everyone. Smiles done and given by normal people have saved lives without even meaning to do it, but they have is that an act of a hero or a person. To anyone wishing and hoping for a hero don't bother, instead look around you, you're surrounded by them, some found it while others are still looking for it. If you yourself are looking for a hero, look at yourself, you'll be one because you already are. The deeds we do the days we light up all go shining through rippling until the world is full of heroes that are normal people. I ask you this if you don't believe yet, who are you... the person you just said is a person who is just that. How can you hope and wish for a hero when you already are one?
To you for whenever you need
