I Prefer Making Longer YouTube Videos for My Horror Channel

The editing process is so fun when it comes to longer videos.

I have learned something about myself during my YouTube journey so far in 2026. I think I like to work on longer videos for the channel. I recently finished uploading my longest YouTube video, that took about two hours to edit and publish on YouTube. I also had a lot of fun making the thumbnail for the video, because I did not want to use a random picture that had already been uploaded to Google by someone that most likely made it.

I tend to stick to horror topics, because sticking to one niche can make your channel fun, instead of feeling like a chore every time. I had actually started an old channel in the past, and it was not fun for me at all. I found myself questioning why I wasn't getting enough views all of the time, and it started to take the fun out of the channel for me. I had deleted the old channel, because I was frustrated by my lack of skills to making a YouTube video, and I gave up on the journey.

However, at the time, I was going through a sort of negative vibe. I tended to put myself down, questioning my skills instead of what I could do with the skills I did have. Then fast forward to several years later, and I'm a whole new person.

I'm happier, and even though I am quite busy with my life nowadays with work and family time, I didn't mind making time for creating YouTube videos on the side. It has now become something fun for me to do, and now, I have been finding myself determined to see if I can somehow become monetized with my channel.

Even though I'm barely at 48 public watch hours for the goal of 4,000 watch hours, instead of feeling doubt or any sort of negativity like I used to, I am excited to continue producing YouTube videos. Longer videos have come to be my favorite to make, due to one site that I have fallen in love with, when it comes to the process of editing a video.

I use a site that I have a lot of experience with from college, called Canva, that has taught me how to make a YouTube video.

I never thought that my college experience would be the one to help me create YouTube videos. Back with my old channel, I recorded myself with my phone only, winging every single video, that slowly became a chore for me to continue. With Canva, I can edit my videos, by adding clips that I had filmed of myself, and I also can add images to the video, to go along with the horror topic I am talking about.

The one thing that I did learn on my own, is that I cannot film myself making the video all in one go. I think the limit of Canva is 15 minutes, but I prefer to break down the video in several sections, by filming every section on its own. It makes sense why several YouTubers film their videos in this manner, because it is not easy to film the video all at once. In my opinion, the editing process is even more fun, since you are focusing on one section at a time, and I'm able to give out my own spin on every single part of the video.

One particular video I got to focus on with this process was my recent YouTube video, that went over my personal ranking of the villain deaths in the franchise of Indiana Jones. The video was divided into 6 sections, going over my description of how every villain died, along with my personal thoughts on every death.

This was my most favorite video I have done for the channel, and now I know that I need to continue working on long videos, because this is what I enjoy!
