These unspoken sorrows are part of your life.

Don't deny your innermost feelings.

Sometimes such restlessness overcomes us, as if we are lost within ourselves. When the night is deep and the surroundings become silent, the unexpressed feelings that have been stored in the secret corners of the mind somehow rise up. Those that can be silenced in the light of day, return in the darkness of night. Silently, deep in the breath, they awaken like an old wound in the heart.

You suddenly wake up, the clock strikes two or three in the morning. There is no one around, only a dark room, a little light may be coming in through the window. But even in that, you are not alone, but the surroundings are filled with a crowd of thousands of feelings. The feelings that you have avoided in the light of day, never said openly in front of others, or did not have the courage to explain - those feelings hold you tight. Your chest feels heavy with the pain of being suffocated. You sit quietly in bed, but the sound inside is like a loud moan.

This moan is the silent shadow of depression. It is not the name of a sudden pain—it is the accumulation of unspoken words, unfulfilled dreams, unknown fears, the face of someone lost, or the intense regret of some wrong decision. These cannot be shared with anyone, because no one will fully understand them. These “unexpressed feelings” are what erode us the most. They cannot be brought to our mouths, nor can they be held in our chests. That is why they wake us up in the middle of the night, shaking the balance of our breathing.

Yet it is in such nights that we encounter our most true “self.” In these silent moments, there is no mask, no social pretense, no judgment in anyone’s eyes. Alone at night, you stand at your most pure—a person who has been hurt and had to remain silent, who has not been able to speak out in love, who has been forced to let go of someone despite his or her unwillingness, or who had a dream—but life has taken him in the exact opposite direction.

And this solitude is the true breeding ground for depression. This is the time when people think, “Why do I feel this way?” or “Why doesn’t anyone understand?” But in fact, this not understanding or inexplicableness—this duality—is where the real pain of feeling comes from. This restlessness, this silent night of crying, these secret words filled with heart—all together make a person human. These experiences make a person deeper, more human, more sensitive.

A person who goes through such restless nights is a little different even in the light of day. There is fatigue in his eyes, but deep within him there is a silent power. Because he knows—how intense loneliness can be, he knows—how deep the pain of not being able to capture the pain of the heart in words. Only those people can later read the depression in someone else’s eyes. Because they know how wordless tears cry, how some words are trapped in the chest forever.

If such restlessness of the night ever surrounds you, don’t blame yourself. Living with feelings means learning to bear the burden of pain. Those who feel, only they feel pain. Silent people never cry, because they have nothing to cry about. But those who had love in their hearts, dreams, and some words—they wake up in the middle of the night and become restless, just like you.

But remember one thing—your restlessness, these unspoken troubles are part of your life, but they are not all of you. You are not alone, many people go through such nights, only they do not say it with their mouths. The cry inside you is carried by countless other people like you. Each of us has something unsaid, some incomplete feelings, some unspoken love in our hearts.

Do not deny the secret feelings inside you, give them importance even if you hide them. Because, they make you sensitive, keep you human. Sometimes give yourself some time, write down what you are thinking, maybe share it with someone whose heart is open. Even if no one else has it, the paper can be there, the sky can be there, your own shadow can be there. Because, some people feel without speaking, even in silence.

When that night passes, you will see—you can see the morning again. And you can, deepening your feelings, stand next to someone else one day, you won't need to tell them—they will understand in your eyes, “You understand, because you too once spent such a restless night.” That is the greatest comfort, that is the extraordinary power of feelings.
