These 5 Things Will Help You To Achieve Growth And Become an Accomplished Writer
Stop standing at the periphery.
I now realize why I had a terrible experience some years ago when I first tried to write. I made many mistakes because I approached writing the wrong way.
I was overwhelmed with self-doubt. I allowed unrealistic expectations to blur my path back then. Consequently, I couldn’t write for a long time after repeated failures.
But eventually, I realized that I just have to do it again whether I’m comfortable with it or not.
And starting all over again though this time with the right approach is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Because the more I put myself in the game, the more I learn how to do it better.
Writing is a long game that doesn’t quickly produce the desired outcome. But It’s good to know that you’re going about it the right way. Going about it the right way is overly important because it is the only way that guarantees growth and success.

Stop Standing at the periphery
The periphery is where you’ll find writers that are still battling with self-doubt, indecisiveness, and lack of commitment. They’d rather stay put in their comfort zones than begin to do what they’ve always wanted to do. They keep telling themselves that their grammar isn’t good enough. Or that they don’t have interesting ideas to write about.
What they don’t understand is that the person that writes and shares with others will have more to write about.
And I know exactly what it means to stand at the periphery because I spent quite a long time there. I didn’t know what I was doing back then. I battled with self-doubt and indecisiveness. But everything changed when I gradually began to walk in my writing path again.
So are you still standing at the periphery wondering whether you can do it? Or have you dived in with both feet?
Always remember that you’d never get the results that you desire from writing if you continue to approach it insouciantly. But when you become fully committed, you’ll then begin to gradually see the desired outcome. You’ll begin to experience the joy of being a writer.

Let go of fear
Your writing will not come alive until you give it the life it needs from you by writing fearlessly.
“Write what disturbs you, what you fear, what you have not been willing to speak about. Be willing to be split open.”—Nathalie Goldberg
You know exactly what you want to write about. Which part of you to dig up and where your pen can pierce and craft a great story. But fear won’t let you. Fear is every writer’s enemy.
Fear dampens the growth you could achieve in your writing if you write fearlessly. Fear stops you from writing exactly what you’d like to write about. Fear is also why you still don’t regard yourself as a writer because you believe that you’re still unworthy to be a writer.
Fear steals from you each time you didn’t say it exactly how you’d want to say it. Therefore you must be a fearless writer because you can never tell how far you can go if you keep yourself restrained by fears.
But your writing will change for good when you begin to write without fear because you’re going to fly so high that nothing can stop you. But you’ll never know that you have wings let alone a strong one that can power you very high if you continue to approach writing with fear and trepidation.

You must be consistent with your writing
“A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit.” Richard Bach
Successful writers were able to reach the level they’re today by being consistent.
They were never afraid to fail — and be laughed at. They’re not afraid to display their dancing steps in public. They embraced rejection and married hard work.
They’re consistent with their writing and they publish frequently. So if you want to grow and become successful, then your writings must always be out there to stare at your readers — and to invite them into your world where many of your stories eagerly await them.

Get rid of expectations
Writing is laced with mysteries in that you can never foretell what’d become of any of your work. You also cannot predict what you may find in your writing journey. So it is meaningless to approach writing with any modicum of expectation.
When you put expectations ahead of you as a writer, you put an imagined outcome in your mind. And sometimes this could be an outcome you know that you’re not going to actualize. And what happens when your expectations didn’t materialize? You become frustrated and maybe discouraged?
But when you put expectations away and focus on writing, you find yourself writing because you have to write. You see yourself creating stories and adding values with fluidity.
Putting expectations away helps you to focus wholly on writing. Because when you do away with expectations, you create room to discover yourself more as a writer by writing out of sheer passion — and interest.

Begin to see yourself as a writer
Always remember that if you’re a writer, you’re a writer. And if you’re not a writer, you’re not a writer. And no one will regard you as a writer if you don’t first regard yourself as one. And no one will condemn you unless you condemn yourself first.
Therefore stop reducing yourself and your ability to create by thinking that you’re not a writer yet. And stop seeking validation from anyone. Rather remain in a close relationship with your pen and get used to hard work and rejections.
“Everybody is talented because everybody human has something to express.”—Brenda Ueland
If you’re not a writer now? Then when do you think you’d become one?
You’re a writer for goodness sake and you know and I know that you can’t run away from it because you didn’t choose to be a writer, rather you were chosen.
Accept it and embrace.

Conclusion
You must dive in with both feet and begin to add value to the lives of many through the craft. You have to throw yourself into it and see what you could find because you can’t find anything worthwhile until you are fully committed to the craft.
Successful writers are those writers that are fully committed to the craft. They walk that path each day. They put all their eggs in one basket and they watch over the basket with utmost care and vigilance. They get up every morning reminding themselves that it is yet another writing day.
Start writing fearlessly and consistently. Let your voice be so loud that it’ll compel people to move in your direction in a bid to receive what you’re giving out to folks through your writing.
