The Pursuit Of Happyness

"Pursuit of Happyness" is a biographical drama film released in 2006, directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Will Smith. The movie is based on the true story of Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman who overcomes tremendous odds to become a successful stockbroker.

The story begins in 1981, in San Francisco, where Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is a struggling salesman trying to sell portable bone density scanners to hospitals and doctors. He is married to Linda (Thandie Newton), who is unsatisfied with their financial struggles and eventually leaves him and their son, Christopher (Jaden Smith). With no job, no money, and nowhere to go, Chris is forced to take care of his son alone while trying to find a way to make ends meet.

Chris is determined to provide a better life for his son, and he sees an opportunity to do so by becoming a stockbroker. He begins attending a brokerage class, but he can't afford to pay for it. He takes on an unpaid internship at a brokerage firm called Dean Witter Reynolds, hoping to eventually get a paid job there.

Chris and his son face several challenges during this time. They are evicted from their apartment and have to sleep in a public restroom, a homeless shelter, and other places. Chris tries to make ends meet by selling the bone density scanners, but he is not very successful. Christopher also has to attend a daycare, which Chris cannot afford, and the authorities end up taking him away.

Despite all these challenges, Chris remains focused on his goal of becoming a stockbroker. He works hard at the internship, trying to learn as much as he can, but he is also tasked with getting potential clients for the firm. He is given a quota of 200 calls per day, but he struggles to even get one interested client. Jay Twistle (Brian Howe), one of the senior brokers, sees Chris's potential and offers him a full-time job if he can complete a six-month unpaid internship and pass the series 7 exam, which is notoriously difficult.

As Chris struggles to pass the exam, he and his son continue to face difficulties. They spend their days at soup kitchens, and Christopher is forced to accompany his father to work. One night, Chris has to leave his son at a homeless shelter while he tries to find a place for them to sleep. It is a heart-wrenching scene that shows the struggles of being homeless, but also the bond between father and son.

Despite all of these hardships, Chris never gives up on his dream of becoming a stockbroker. He studies relentlessly for the exam, even taking advantage of every opportunity to learn. He manages to find a way to get a taxi to himself and a rich businessman and impresses him by predicting a big drop in the stock market.

Finally, the day of the exam arrives, and Chris aces it, earning him a job at the firm. The film ends with Chris walking down the street in a suit with his son, showing the audience that he has finally achieved his dream of providing a better life for his family.

Throughout the movie, the pursuit of happiness is a recurring theme. Chris is constantly seeking a better life for himself and his son, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
