THE POWER OF IMAGINATION

Hey beautiful, I wanted to share with you what I wrote while I was in Australia during the lockdown. It was a contest for international students to write about something positive that could help people during Covid.

We are all creative human beings and sometimes it is hard for us to think outside the box. There are many ways in which we can develop our creativity. One of them is by using our imagination. We can develop different techniques to improve our creativity by doing something simple such as reading a book that we don't usually read.

Hopefully, in this article, you will find some inspiration to go beyond what you know and do something different. Maybe you will find a solution to a situation by thinking about it in a new way.

Insights during lockdown

What if I tell you that by using your imagination you can have a better life? A better world? What if you dedicate a space each day of your life to think in a totally different way? That will take you to a state where you can forget about time, yourself, about everything.

I will introduce to you what I call “the power of imagination”. I love every part of it. Have you ever used your imagination? Of course, you have. I believe that everyone sees the world in a different way. Some of us are more emotional than others, some are more rational, every person is different. We travel around the world to discover new places, explore other landscapes, immerse ourselves in another culture, in order to change the way we see the world. We can also go to the theater, to a concert, or watch a movie in the cinema. What about reading a book? You don't have to travel anywhere, you just let your imagination flow, creating a story in your mind full of images about the story that you are reading. Isn't it fascinating? The best part of it is that we can do the same with our lives. We can create anything we want in our minds. I have started to think about it lately. Look at what is happening now. We can't even go to see someone that we love or even us, as international students, we can't go to our countries, crazy ha?

I think I´ve never spent so much time with myself. Even though I enjoy being alone and having my space, I love to meet new people and discover new places, new cultures, and new languages. Immerse myself in the unknown. At the same time while I'm traveling I´ve always missed my family, friends, and my culture. So what can I do now? I truly believe that this special moment has to mean something. I can´t stop thinking that we are all living the same situation at the same time.

I believe that every moment in our lives has to mean something. I truly believe that this is the perfect moment to take care of ourselves more than ever. We are the ones that we need to take care of in order to help others. Many times I heard the quote “Love yourself” and when I hear it I think I understand the meaning, that I truly love myself, but in the end, I choose loving others first.

Take this present moment. Take it now and start thinking about yourself. Use your imagination of the kind of life you want to live; what changes can you make to love yourself more? It can be as simple as learning something new, dancing your favorite song, or telling someone that you love them. Feel. Feel deeply inside yourself. Move your body, eat something yummy. Be present. Read a great book. Start your own book. Discover the real you. Once you start to use your imagination anything can happen. Go beyond and don´t hesitate. Now you are at home.
