The Lightbulb Moment That Helped Me Create a Better Relationship With Time
It’s all about creating abundance.
I had been trying to do it all — without success.
My 9–5 is here to stay, for now. But there is only so much time available outside my 9–5 without sacrificing my health and happiness. I’m over 40. My kids are gone, living their own lives.
Why would I kill myself working 60 hours a week now at this point in my life?
Nope — not going to happen!
This is how I have been feeling since I got my holistic health coach certification. Once I started that one-year course, I started taking more health coaching and business courses because I knew I wanted more than the corporate job life. But, this ultimately led me to add a million things to my to-do list.
I wanted a website, a coaching business, to grow on all social media platforms, create recipes, video production, create a course, an email list, and other digital products all at the same time. Can anyone fit all of that in while also working a full-time job?
Probably not!
I have gone from wanting to be a coach to not wanting to be a coach. I’ve gone back and forth with my niche too many times to count. Not only that, but I have spent money on unnecessary things, including a few courses.
In addition, I was helping two friends grow their small businesses. Guess what happened?
I burned out!
When I burn out, I stop doing everything except the necessary. Ya know, like eating, sleeping, and going to work. My side hustle halts if I burn out.
Something had to change.
This change I’m going to talk about below has been the biggest game changer for me.
How I Changed My Relationship With Time
A year ago, I stopped saying that I don’t have time to X or that I’m too busy to X.
I realized that I was giving my time negative energy by saying these things. I don’t have room for negative energy in my life.
One day on a walk I had a breakthrough. It just came to me out of nowhere (I get the best ideas in nature). I made the decision to manifest abundance with my time instead. That is when I had a breakthrough in my relationship with time.
Instead of saying that I don’t have enough time, now I say that I have an abundant amount of time to accomplish X.
Focusing On My Priorities
My new approach isn’t perfect and sometimes I falter, but it has helped me to hone in on what my priorities are and to let go of the things that are not contributing to my growth.
I don’t have to do it all and I don’t have to do it all right now.
I need to focus on what will help me grow at this stage of my wellness side hustle journey. For me, that is writing, creating a digital product, growing my email list, and focusing on 2 primary social media platforms. That’s it right now. It is just enough to fill up the 2 hours per day and 4 hours on the weekends that I allot for side hustle work.
The fact that I have a limited amount of time to work on my side hustle isn’t going to change. I am just choosing not to think of it as limited. The mindset shift to an abundance of time has had a positive domino effect on my stress levels and joy.
A Few Additional Tips for Manifesting an Abundance of Time:
- recognize that each moment of time we have is a gift
- slow time down by doing novel things
- use your time intentionally
- be present in the moments of your life
- be honest with yourself about your priorities
By embracing the idea that time is a resource that can be managed and maximized instead of hindering, it’s possible to find new ways to prioritize your goals and make the most of every moment of time.
Whether you are juggling a full-time job and a side hustle, adopting an abundance mindset can help you to feel more empowered and in control of your time.
I hope that you find and enjoy a newfound relationship with your precious time.
