At some point we realize we wasted half of our life not appreciating the ones around us. We move about the world like there is no time left but one man knows what it's like as he sits in the shadows of others as does his janitorial duty. The Dr's and nurses get all the praise as the patients get all the attention and this one man does his job as if this would be his last day. Paying attention to all the detail and taking the time to get to know the patients in the hospital. This man has seen it all and heard everyone's stories. Little did he know that one patient was about to change his life forever. For this man has never asked for anything but has always wished to make things right with his past. He knows what it's like to have a lot and to be with out, he finds the simplest things in life brought him much joy. A patent in room 312 that the janitor came to see everyday had no family or friends as he sits in his bed wasting away and only days left to live. The janitor went every single day to check up on his friend Mr. Jones and talk stories, he loved hearing his life stories and how he went from rags to riches. They created such a wonderful bond that Mr. Jones finally understood what it was like to have a true friend by his side every single day as his time on earth was ticking down. One day the janitor went to room 312 to check up on his friend Mr. Jones and finds that his room is empty and a note on his bed addressed to my dearest friend Steven from Mr. Jones. As Steven opens the letter and starts to read it, it says “In these last days you have made me fell the happiest I've ever been as we shared our stories everyday. I realized what it means to have a true friend. I remember the day you shared your story that was in your black note book and all the wonderful and amazing things you wanted to do but i also remember you sharing the regrets you have in your life. I want you to know i understand what it's like to have regret and i wish i could redo my life all over again but you have helped me so much through my last days that i want to bless you with $20,000. I want you to live the best life that you can, make your dreams and goals come true. I believe in you as you did in me, it said" as tears ran down his face and in shock , Steven dropped his mop and sat on the bed where Mr. Jones once laid. Not too long after Steven was done reading the letter a lawyer walked into the room asking are you Steven, he replies yes that's me. The lawyer says I have the will of Mr. Jones and being that he had no family he has put you as his only beneficiary to inherit his $20,000. Steven continued to cry and asked why me. The lawyer replies Mr. Jones addressed the $20, 000 to my only and dearest friend. You made his last day here in the hospital the most memorable days he has ever had, you are more than deserving of Mr. Jones will. Steven went out of the room and headed to the brake room, still in shock but also heart broken, he sat down and opened his black note book remembering all the good times, the bad times and his bucket list that he didn't get a chance to accomplish, reminiscing on the past and wishing he had made better choices when he had the chance to do so, wishing he had done more to help the people around him. Steven decides to open up his own homeless shelter where there would be beds, food, clothes, medical, dental and jobs available to all those that needed it free of charge. Pro vivian dreams would be the the place that Steven wished he had when he was homeless due to spending all his money foolishly. As he struggled to get on his feet, Steven had put together a bucket list before wanting to end his own life but with the grace of God Steven got a second chance and was hired at the hospital as a janitor. Steven made a promise to himself that he would grow himself to be better and to always help others. As Steven accomplished one of his biggest goals he started to feel sick, light headed and had a loss of appetite. Steven decides to go to the Dr's, to get a check up and found out that he has cancer and only three months left to live. Once again in shock Steven finds himself lost and confused, what am I gonna do? Steven says holding onto his black note book with tears in his eyes. Remembering the promise he made a few months back, Steven opens his black note book and calls his family starting with his mom wanting to make things right for abandoning them and focusing on his career. Steven spent the next two months with his closet family members helping them get on their feet and strengthening the family while building memories he had missed out on. In his last month Steven had been hospitalized and found himself in room 312 where his dearest friend Mr. Jones laid. As Steven wrote out his will he noticed there was a new janitor who had her own black note book that she carried around with her. He would talk with the new janitor every chance he got and told her I don't got long to live and I want to bless you with my business I started a few months ago before finding out I had cancer. I started a homeless shelter called pro vivian dreams and would like you to carry on my legacy. In shock the new janitor had tears running down her face, Steven asked what's wrong, she replied “ I had spent the last few months homeless and because of your organization I was able to get this job and provide a home and food for my two kids. Steven filled with love and fulfillment closed his eyes and took his last breath.
