Let Your Walls Wear Colours by Muniba Baloch

“Iron Lady of Pakistan”

In the late 19th century from a Baloch background, of the tribe Mazari was born a maiden 3 March 1987 called “Muniba”.

Muniba went to the Army Public School, and later attended college in her native home town for a BFA. She was a gem to behold. She had a charming charisma, a special way she did things everybody wondered, she was so soothing to listen to…full of empathy and ready to listen…she spoke so well …you need to see her in debates, school advocacy and female peer talks…she was the bomb. Everybody knew out rightly she was different. People around her saw her as an example to follow ….a female to Lead.

As live would have it: “You don’t eat your cake and have it” Due to her distinguishing personality and features a lot of suitors developed high interest in her.

At the age of 18, before she could complete her studies, her father gave her out for marriage. Then, came the saying: “There are some incidents that happen in your life…. Those incidents break you, deform you but mold you into the best version of yourself”. This was the case of Muniba.

She was 18years old when she got married… Her father wanted her to get married and all she said was “if that makes you happy Dad”!? I will say yes. So she got married.

And of course it was never a happy marriage…..just after about two years of getting married…she had a car accident.

Somehow her husband fell asleep and the car fell into a ditch…He managed to save himself somehow but she was left inside and she sustained a lot of injuries. Fracturing her wrist, shoulder bone, collar bone…including her whole rib cage and because of the rib cage inquiry, her lungs and liver were badly injured. She couldn’t breathe and lost urine and bowel control…that’s why she has to wear a bag anywhere she goes. She also became unable to give birth and could not walk again.

Then her breakthrough in life began… she had to question her existence and face her fears and limitations in life and became the woman she is today…an advocate, activist and people’s personality because she stopped worrying about things and people she has lost…and decided to live life accepting who she has become .

These set-back broke her down but ended up building her steel armor and shaping her into what she has become … recognized and respected as an Icon today.

Muniba started painting on her hospital bed. Her medium is acrylics on canvas. With the slogan, Let Your Walls Wear Colours, she created her own art brand called Muniba's Canvas. She has presented her work in exhibitions, including a six-day exhibition held in Lahore from 19 April 2016 to 24 April 2016. This exhibition was held at Collectors Galleria and displayed 27 acrylic paintings.

Muniba Mazari gained fame in multiple areas, as an artist, activist, anchor, model, singer and motivational speaker. Most of her career, however, has been built on painting and motivational speaking as a way of touching lives and inspiring others.

Her popular quotes were:

They see my disability…I SEE MY ABILITY…

“They call me Disable, I CALL MYSELF DIFFERENTLY ABLE”

She taught others how to love and accept themselves not minding what they are or have become …using herself as an example and motivation to encourage others to be kind to themselves, and as a way extend the same love to others. Stating that “Greatness Starts with us” not minding our limitations.
