The Goal Of Thy Enemy

I believe that every leader should study war theory...

Not because I'm an advocate for war...

I believe that war should be avoided and only used as a last resort in situations where the opposition refuses to see the world in alternative ways...

But that does not mean that there is not wisdom in understanding war.

One of the clearest examples of this that I have seen...

Is through the phrase...

Know thy enemy.

Now, most people fail to really understand what this means.

How?

Most people try to dehumanize their enemy...

And they completely miss the value of knowing their enemies...

Not as villains...

But as humans.

Humans with real goals, hopes, and dreams.

It really begins to become clear with psychology.

When we dehumanize others...

We fail to consider the psychology behind what they do and why they do it.

The result?

We become blind to what they are actually doing.

We begin to have preconceived ideas of what they are doing...

And create false narratives around what happens...

But this ends up hurting us in the end...

Because they are not based in truth.

When we act and think based on false ideas...

We become susceptible...

To being manipulated.

I see this happen constantly in today's world...

People believing they are acting or doing things for one reason...

But utterly failing to actually uphold their ideals...

And in some cases...

Act in direct opposition to the ideals they claim to hold.

All because they fail to know the truth...

Fail to know their enemies...

And then become manipulated by their true enemies.

What is also interesting here...

Is that when people are being manipulated in this way...

People begin to see them as hypocrites and blind...

And they fail in their goals to convince anyone to join them...

Because they are failing to understand others...

And they create new enemies where there were none before.

But...

When you actually take time to know thy enemy...

Not as your enemy...

But as a real human being...

You can begin to truly understand what it is that they are seeking...

How that influences how they act in the world...

And often...

You can see how they manipulate others in the same process.

This gives you the power to change people's perspectives...

Have a real impact on others...

And guide people to join you in your cause.

Those who fail to know thy enemy are forced to rely on manipulation...

Those who know thy enemy can rely on truth.

Something interesting also happens when we rely on truth...

We can get ahead of our enemy...

See what their goals are and prevent them from attaining those goals...

But more importantly...

We can reveal the truth to others...

And this is the most effective way to dismantle the power of thy enemy.

As humans, we are interdependent.

We need others.

Without allies, we become weakened.

We cannot attain the most audacious goals in life without others.

So if we are able to utilize truth to draw others to our cause...

Turn enemies into allies...

We actually prevent the worst individuals in the world from being capable of establishing a place of power where they can manipulate people further.

Here is the real question that we have to begin to ask ourselvs...

Do we actually understand who our enemy is?

The vast majority of people believe they know...

But have been deeply manipulated without realizing it...

And if they actually did just a bit of research...

They would soon discover how badly they have been manipulated into what they believe.

If you believe that you are right in your causes...

I would caution you to look more closely...

Because I have seen many of the most self-righteous individuals become the ones most easily manipulated into doing terrible things without realizing it.

Take time...

Discover and understand the real goal of who you believe is the enemy...

And further consider if those you have been following...

Are actually worthy of the trust that you have placed in them...

Or if they have been manipulating you while actively working against what you believe to be right.

You might be surprised by what you discover.
