The Dream You Buried Is Still Breathing

A gentle reminder for those who forgot how to believe

By OWOYELE JEREMIAHPublished 3 months ago 3 min read

Hey you,

Yes… you. The one staring at your phone right now, wondering if all those dreams you once had were just childish fantasies. The one who used to talk about “someday” with stars in your eyes — but now, that sparkle feels like it’s gone.

I know what it feels like to be tired of trying. To wake up every day fighting the same battles in silence. To see people around you getting ahead while you keep wondering, “When will it be my turn?”

But here’s the truth — your turn doesn’t come when luck arrives. It comes when you refuse to give up.

🌻 The Small Town Dreamer

Let me tell you something about a boy I once knew.

He came from a small town — the kind of place where everyone knows your name but no one knows your dream. He didn’t have fancy shoes, or a big family name, or money to fall back on. But he had something rare — fire inside a quiet soul.

He would sit on the rooftop at night, staring at the stars, whispering, “One day, I’ll make it out.”

But life… life had other plans.

He failed.

He got laughed at.

He got told, “Be realistic.”

He worked jobs that drained his spirit and still chased that distant spark inside his chest.

And you know what kept him going? It wasn’t hope — it was memory. The memory of who he wanted to become.

🌤️ Dreams Don’t Expire

Somewhere along the line, maybe you stopped believing. You told yourself it was too late, or too hard, or too far.

But dreams don’t come with an expiry date. They just wait quietly — like a seed under the soil — waiting for you to water them again.

The world won’t always understand you.

People will call you unrealistic until you succeed, and then they’ll call you inspirational.

That’s just how it works.

But please, listen to me:

You were not born to blend in. You were born to build something that only you can build.

You might not see results now. It might look like you’re standing still. But even when a seed is buried deep underground, it’s still growing roots. You’re not failing — you’re preparing.

🌄 The Moment You Decide

You don’t need a new year, or a new job, or some miracle. You just need a decision.

The moment you say, “I’m done waiting — I’m starting again,” something shifts.

That’s the moment the world begins to move for you.

Doors open.

People show up.

Opportunities whisper your name.

Not because the universe suddenly changes — but because you do.

Your dream is waiting at the same spot where you dropped it. Maybe you were scared. Maybe life got too heavy. That’s okay.

Pick it up again. It’s still yours.

🌙 A Letter to the Dreamer in You

You are not too old.

You are not too late.

You are not forgotten.

You are becoming.

So tonight, do me a favor — close your eyes and remember the person you wanted to be before the world told you who you should be. Picture them clearly.

Now whisper this to yourself:

“I’m coming back for me.”

Because you are.

💫 Before You Go

Don’t compare your journey with anyone else’s. The same fire that drives you will never make sense to people who gave up on theirs.

Keep building quietly. Keep believing stubbornly.

Your small steps today are planting the miracle you’ll celebrate tomorrow.

And one day, when you finally stand in that place you used to dream about — you’ll look back at this moment and realize something powerful:

You were never behind.

You were becoming unstoppable.
