Take control of your mind and body in 2021
A step every day creates the staircase.

Each year on the 31st December when the clock strikes 11:59am and millions of people will countdown to the dawn of a new year. There is hope and excitement of a new start, a promise that the new calendar date means all of our dreams can now come true!
But does it?
I finally get it, after forty new, years. This is what I have learnt.
We are blessed with this thing called time on this planet to do with it, what it seems like anything we really want too. So then why do some people achieve so much in their lifetime and others struggle and just exist for their days?
The last few months of the year 2020, I have been going through some major health issues in my life that have structural impacts in my body causing me a significant amount of pain. When I wake up each day, I would struggle to think of why this is all happening and what is it teaching me? I decided to do inner work on myself, journal about how I am feeling whether it is good or bad and really figure out what I want from my life.
The saying better late than never is very true for me, I feel like my life has just begun again for the second time and I feel a lot younger than my physical years on this earth. Most people I have heard talk about adversity, talk about it in the past tense when they have gotten out of the worst part of the situation. I am still right in the middle of a disaster and still do not have a solution YET to my multiple muscular skeletal and neurological conditions however the way I choose to think about what is happening is what is the most important part of this story.
Every day in January 2021 and to continue for the days and months following, I have been working on my mental health to help heal my physical and spiritual body. Instead of seeing this experience as painful, I think about why I have been blessed with the opportunity of this experience and what can I share about it to the world. Every day I read at least 33 pages of two of my favourite books. I highly recommend these books if you want to work on yourself and strengthen your mind to help align you with your purpose here. Your body will follow your mind, so once you do the inner work everything else will eventually come together. It all depends on you!
My favourite books are “Who Says You Can’t? YOU DO” by Daniel Chidiac and “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Both of these books look at the personal attributes you need for success, the success that you define and want to work towards. Having a healthy and positive mind will allow you to think and act on the things you want in this life. The major themes of these books is that you need to find out what your major purpose in this life and then take massive action to get what you say it is that you want.
Without action, not much in your life will change. Every day is a new chance to work on yourself. Think about what you want in your life and then stocktake all the things you are currently doing and determine whether these things you do every day, are they going to get you closer or further from the things you want. Reading everyday has been so beneficial to my state of mind especially when my life is in shambles but taking each day as it comes and reading consistently each day, drinking enough clean water, prioritising exercise, stretching and eating enough protein, fats and good quality carbohydrates in my diet are taking me closer to my dream body and being out of pain.
There is a saying that you don’t need to see the whole staircase, just the first step.
Start from today and consistently every day read a self development book for 30 minutes a day, exercise for at least 30 minutes, drink at least half your bodyweight in ounces of water and eat nutritious food and prioritise your sleep, then this year can really be "your" year!
