An Ongoing Impulse Buy
I've always had a knack for writing, so much so that I participated in a competitive creative writing program called Power of the Pen in middle school. Participants are given a prompt, then have 40 minutes to craft a story related to that prompt. I had a great time on that team in middle school, and all of my friends in high school were people I had met through the program. But my high school did not have a team, so I pretty much stopped writing creatively once I left middle school. I did plenty of academic writing, but I didn’t write any fiction or poetry like I did in Power of the Pen.

Black In Business
I admire Madame C.J. Walker. Not only was she a woman but a black woman. She already had two strikes against her, and another for being born in the time where there was way too much hatred. Hatred not just because you were a woman but because of the colour of your skin.

Ideas are Born
"Where do you get your ideas?" Every successful author has been asked this question at least once, or so it's been said. I can't speak to the truth of that 'cause I'm not a successful author. Yet. But I can understand why people ask the question. I can also understand why authors seem to find the question frustrating or annoying.

A Leap Of Faith
Have you ever had the courage to take a leap of faith? Maybe you're not even sure what I am talking about here, assuming that I am perhaps referring to some sort of religious act, or something along similar lines. For those who may not know what the phrase "leap of faith" even means, it's defined as "an act of believing in, or attempting something, whose existence or outcome cannot be proved or known". Even the definition may still not give you the clarity and understanding around exactly what it refers to. A leap of faith is basically when we make the decision to proceed with an opportunity, despite the odds, in the belief that we can achieve success or benefit from it. That belief can come from self-belief, through trusting in our own skill and ability. It can perhaps come from placing our trust in someone else's advice, or their support. It can come from having a "nothing to lose" attitude. It can come from desperation for change. It can come from sheer drive and determination to achieve a desired result. One thing that's for sure, a leap of faith is just another way of saying "taking a risk". Whether it's something significant and life changing, that's on the line, or perhaps something with less importance, either way, we are taking an element of risk. The first thing to focus on, when we talk about taking a leap of faith, is what the reward is, what that goal is that we are actually taking a risk for. Are we taking a leap of faith for something significant? Are we taking a leap of faith to better our lives, and enhance our future?

My Early Years of Self Publishing
I made my first venture into the land of self-publishing at around the age of eight. I can’t remember who taught me how to make a chapbook, but I believe it was my maternal grandmother. Write your story on individual pages, front and back. Illustrate, of course. Make sure the pages are clearly numbered. Punch holes in the margins and sew the pages together. Make a colorful cover and sew that on as well.

Story of Uber
The Uber Story formally began in 2008, when Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp met at Le Web, a tech conference in Paris. After getting into an argument over the fare with a local cab driver in Mexico, Travis Kalanick jumped out of the moving cab. The incident would leave him with a dislike for conventional cabs. A few years later, he founded Uber. Under him, Uber – went from 3 drivers to 3.9 million drivers, became the highest valued private company in the world and made him a famous billionaire, all within seven years. Then he was fired. The Uber story offers inspiration and also warns about the consequences of pushing the limits too far. Like all entrepreneurs both had failure in startups.
