New Year of Rest and Recovery
Happy New Year everyone! Have you made your resolutions for the year? I have a list of about two or three so far but I want to explain my logic for the ways I plan on completing these resolutions while not giving myself a major burnout.

Ballad of a Party Animal Turned Sober
There is a strong message I would like to get across to my Indigenous brothers and sisters. Today I have a very important topic I would like to discuss—no, we need to discuss: Alcohol. Sadly, for the majority of the First Nations People of North America, alcohol in one way or another has had a negative impact on our day to day lives. Without a doubt it grew to a broad and negative influence on my own personal life, then in turn, my friends and loved ones. Alcohol abuse has been and will, unfortunately, continue to be an epidemic for our nationwide people unless we do something about it. My usage of alcohol all started from seeing and hearing my favourite stars indulge their happy lives in the stuff.

46 "things" I will Appreciate More
People have different opinions and perspectives when it comes to the grand question of "what is the meaning of life?". Some believe that life revolves around carrying on the human race. Others—who may be religious—might believe that this life is meant to act as a stepping stone towards some sort of Utopia. Many even believe that our existence surrounds our ability to make a million dollars a year so we can ride on yachts and fly private jets. A few people however—like myself—believe that the meaning of life is a bit simpler than that.

No Longer Silent
Throughout life, society has taught us that silence speaks more than our voice. Something I was taught at a very young age, be silent, or someone gets hurt. However, in my experience, the more I stayed silent, the more hurt it always caused.

Who's There?
Life has an odd way of showing you things you never thought were possible. It shows you how to love, how to lose, how to win, how to fail, and how to succeed. What it doesn't show you is how to stop your mind from racing at night, preventing you from a restful slumber. It has plenty of things it offers to help ease your mind but none that simply stops your negative thoughts. Being someone who has always been in a room full of people and still felt alone, I search for things daily to help put my mind at ease. I find that my mind is best as ease when I lay silent, at night and listen to the nature. Waiting and hoping that something shows up to comfort me. Just laying in the dark, staring into the darkness, with the last little bit of hope.

Resting With the Fishes
Over the course of the last eight years, my typical sleep cycle and times of rest have been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, from insomnia to sleeping a staggering sixteen hours a day. The problems with sleep affected my mental, physical and emotional health, requiring hospitalization twice and the necessity to leave my part time occupation as an organics garbage sorter. Presently though, I am sleeping quite well and had just gotten a brand new tropical freshwater aquarium, which I am including in my new year’s resolution. I plan on spending at least an hour a week calming myself down by observing my fish and watching them perform the most mundane of tasks like searching for food or exploring the tank. Indeed, watching the fish makes me feel satisfied that I am providing for and protecting other living creatures who depend on me to take care of them. Seeing them live out their happy lives brings joy and excitement to an otherwise average typical week. However, it is interesting to explain how I have gotten to this state of peace, and to discuss the past problems that plagued my rest.
