How to heal fully and properly.
Broken Parts
A sort of creative reset has happened to me over the last year and I got back to things I simply enjoyed doing without the pressure of shareable or monetary results. I remembered how much I enjoy drawing, painting and hand drawn animation. With time, I added embroidery to the list, weaving delicious figs, leaves, flowers and anything else that caught my eye. The latest lovechild of all my endeavours has become tapestry on canvas. For a few good days I walked around thinking I’ve invented tapestry, except, I called it “fabric painting” utterly surprised that no one came up with the idea before me. I envisioned shattered blue, going into green, surrounding a face falling apart into nature, and yet composed from it. As an homage to summer memories, which in a way define the child in me, I embroidered my left eye and my boyfriend's right eye and put them together. That’s what I do. I put things together. My day job in film and production, my self work, my deep dives into self help books and the things I make, all aimed at emphasising conflict, irony, paradox and how it all always, eventually, comes together to make its own sense.

A Wood Phone Holder Kit as an Art Therapy Project, DIY.. Top Story - June 2021.
My name is Stephen Pasco. I am new to the world of product design and as of last year, I knew very little about art therapy. About 18 months ago my sister, a Riverside County Police Officer in California, was badly beaten by a man after approaching him as a burglary suspect. To make a long story short, she almost lost her life that evening. She suffered physical and psychological damage from that beating of which she is still recovering. While she was going through therapy, I learned she was given art activities to help her heal. These art therapy projects were a bridge to help her deal with the depression, anxiety, and PTSD from that night. Although I could not relate to what she was going through I wanted to help in my own way. I was convinced I could make a wood kit my sister could use an alternate art therapy activity.

Coming Back Home
The garden always has a way of drawing me back, immersing myself fully in her abundant beauty in its exquisite entirety – curved edges overhanging with supple juicy fruits, bouquets of bold color pleasing to both the eye and heart, and enticing blooms luring me in to linger longer with their tantalizing scents. The contrast of colors, textures, and shapes is an exploration for my mind and soul. As I connect with the plants and their ways in the garden, so too do I infinitely connect more deeply with myself.

Rock, paper, scissors
After a good friend of mine passed away, I found painting couldn't help me heal from the sadness as it usually did. It was my main way of escape and healing through life's hurdles. I would often turn to paint on the canvas to express my emotions and work through hurt and sadness.

Stitching my life back together
I first started sewing as a teenager. I was stuck in a complicated and abusive family situation, and had to look after my younger autistic brother any time my parents weren't at home. From the time he got home from school until my parents arrived back from work and all day for most holidays, I was responsible to be there and look after him

Happiness is relative to the person experiencing the emotion. What is common about happiness is that it is fleeting and can be measure on a scale, such as a Likert scale. Not that I imagine that many of us go around thinking of rating our happiness from one to ten. The confusion with happiness is that it surreptitiously moves in and out of our daily lives. Some people believe that they must feel happy all the time or something is wrong. For me, happiness is what I make of it, meaning that my actions create my happiness. If I sit too long without something to keep my vivid and creative mind growing, I find less happiness. Sometimes that inertia opens the window to sadness or negative thoughts. When I am growing, learning and creating I am happy. The most important thing that I have found about happiness, is that, too much of any of these things, reduces the level of happiness on the Likert scale. Variety is my secret for a happy life and always remembering that happiness is not a constant. Live in the moment and be grateful for the happy times.

Meghan and Me;
A number of lifetimes ago, I found myself in a bad place in life. Trapped. Couldn’t see my way out of it. Couldn’t see where to go, what to do, or how to do it. Surrounded by a horde who didn’t appreciate me. In fact, the crowd around me had become spiteful and hostile.

Sometimes
SOMETIMES-6 101-I am W-O-M-A-N We rolled into town and took an upstairs apt in a house on Tillman street. The owners lived downstairs and there was an inside stairway that separated the two living quarters between the two floors. It was a nice one bedroom apt, with a folding bed set up in the living room for me. I had to make my bed every morning before I left the room, a practice that I keep to this day.

My Chosen Form of Expression is Lyrical
Language is such a gift. Language; the channel through which we communicate what we think and what we feel. Think about the importance of communicating these things, thoughts and feelings. If we have either a need or a desire for an external party to grasp a concept that only exists within the walls of our brain, we use language to forward it from our world alone to the world outside of ourselves. Everyone knows there are different facets of language.. verbal language, vocal tone, body language, facial expressions, or art. It could be poetry, handwriting, music or musical dynamics, clothing or makeup. These are only a few ways a person can transfer a feeling from inside their head to a second person's awareness. And there are some people who best express themselves through the use of song lyrics. This is the category that I fall into.
