How to heal fully and properly.
We Are COVID
For as long as humans have existed, viruses and diseases have killed and weakened our people, causing panic and fear across the globe throughout history. The Plague, or the Black Death, from the 1300s, killed 50% of who it infected and is still spoken about with an awestruck horror up to this day. The Spanish Influenza, from the early 1900s, which killed about 3% of the world's population, is a time associated with the World Wars and the some of the darkest aspects of human history. Countless other such plagues and sicknesses have occurred and still do, but now, in 2021, all we can think about it COVID 19, which kills a very small percentage of those who get infected by it, but it kills enough for us all to hurt for the people we have lost.

The Beauty of Suffering
I am about to take you on an emotional journey. One that may be too harsh for some readers. A trigger warning may need to precede this entry. Every bit of what I am about to tell you is true. My name is Tony and I survived an extremely severe case of child abuse. I want you to stick with me because there is a point. From exceptional suffering can come something beautiful. So grab a box of Kleenex and find a comfy chair. With that, please allow me to begin.

Every Pain Is An Opportunity
So you're going through a tough time in your life? It feels like your world is totally falling apart around you. You've lost your job, or you're experiencing some massive financial hardship, or you're marriage/relationship has just ended, or your house burnt down, or a loved one has just passed away, or anything to these levels of complete devastation, disbelief, and sadness. You are feeling at your lowest of lows, and you really need strong support and love around you. Feeling the way you do, the last thing you would really want to hear from anyone is for them to tell you to stay strong, because every pain is an opportunity, and every pain is a gift. How could the passing of a loved one be a gift? How could losing your job be a gift? How could your house being burned down be an opportunity? How could being financially crippled be an opportunity? Times of adversity are unpleasant, there's no sugar coating that! When things are going against us, it's incredibly difficult to try and remain positive, even more so, to be seeking out opportunities. As strange as it may be though, life does indeed present opportunities to us, during times of adversity and suffering. We may not see it at the time, but often, we can end up being led to a place of happiness, success, and satisfaction. That pain and suffering that we endure can end up becoming our superpower. I think it's when we are on the other side of such pain and suffering, we slowly begin to see the courage, resilience, and strength we actually applied to get through such a tough time. It's an achievement in itself, and something we should be proud of, because pain, suffering, and adversity can be incredibly demoralizing and damaging to our mental state. For some people, such times can become so overwhelming, that they fail to overcome it, either wasting away in misery, or sadly, even taking their own lives.

2020 Didn’t Make My Top 5 Bad Years List
Of all the unpopular opinions I should have kept to myself over the years, this one probably tops the list. On a global scale, 2020 was truly terrible and heartbreaking. On a personal scale? Not so much. Oh, I gained and lost a job and weight and friends. I ached for people I knew who contracted Covid-19 or had people in their lives who did, and was distressed by job losses, and food bank lines, and the panic of the unemployed. But, these worries were mainly birthed by the specific circumstances of the pandemic, and the state of worry, the state of being — the agitation and anxiety — felt like most other years.

If these plants could talk...
So I'm standing on the coffee table. They were built much sturdier back then. You know made of real wood, not that cheap particle board crap or so my dad would say. Not that the table wasn't cheap, I'm sure we purchased it at a yard sale, thrift store or it was given to us. I was wearing a flag bathing suit meant to look like Wonder Women's costume and my dad had cut me a small piece of rope from his garage to wear on my hip. It was my Magic Lasso of Truth Weapon and I adored it... My mom liked to turn on MTV (music television) so she could listen to music while she cleaned the house and watered her indoor house plants. I remember her singing and talking to her plants, she said to me quite often, " You know Martha Lynn, the plants help us breath, the positive vibrations of your voice, watering them, dusting their leaves and singing to them is what keeps them healthy." My mom had hanging house plants at every house we lived in. She would tack the stems along the wall when they would get to long so they wouldn't get damaged. She loved them plants back then just the same as I love mine today and my son loves his. Back then All I cared about was my MTV, it kept me occupied watching music videos and dancing on the coffee table top. I would jump off yelling things I thought Wonder Women would say, "Don't worry I'll save you, or throw me my Magic Lasso", to my two younger brothers. This is my first memory of really wanting to be something, something big, something important...

Cancer Journey
In February of 2020, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Let me rewind a little further. In November of 2019 we found out I was pregnant, we were thrilled. I have a history of miscarriages, and learned that I have an autoimmune disorder. Since I had this autoimmune disorder and I work all sorts of chemicals my doctor placed me on a leave from work stating I was a high risk. So I just stayed home with my 4 year old and waited for our little new buddle to grow and make her entrance.

Touching A Heart
This is my Sweetsop Tree. It’s one of my favorite fruits. I planted it myself and watched it grew from a seedling to a monster of a tree. It spreads out on the street and next door, giving shade from the Sun and a cool breeze when it’s hot. It bears more than three times per year, providing many feasts for birds, rats, and humans annually. Sweetsop trees are common here in Jamaica and are in many yards.

How Covid Healed Me- and my Divorce.
A long time ago, I said fuck it and tried just about every drug that was around me at the time. Some people called this a trash can junkie in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. I most recognized with this title, as I didn't feel like a drug addict but I knew I had more problems then just alcohol. Everyone's first judgement of you was your drug of choice and I had a special need to be liked by everyone. Perhaps why I tried as many as I could.

The time I felt like I didn’t fit in
This was the day I went to school. But it was the first day of HIGHSCHOOL. Bro, I was so nervous. I saw my friends but they were with people I didn’t even know. So at lunch you could either sit inside or outside depending on the weather. And in the beginning it was nice and sunny, so everyone was outside. I walk into the cafeteria and instead of getting food I just get chips because, I wasn’t going to eat the food anyways so why waste it. I had saw some of my classmates so I went to them first because it was the first people I saw. And everyone was in groups that meant something. Either you do drugs, watch anime, or you gamble. And most of the people I knew were in those groups. So the first one I go to they seemed chill for a while until they started going to the bathroom to smoke so then I just left, I was by myself by that time anyways :). I had this friend and let’s call him, Jacob. So Jacob was funny and cool and I met him in my theater class. So in Lunch I was just chilling with him walking around. And when we got to his group they started talking about anime and how one person could beat the other with one hand. I ain’t pay none of that any kind until they started asking me a question. So the boy, we are gonna call him mike. Mike said “ yo Christian, do you think one punch man could beat goku in a fight?” I said huh? Then acted like someone called me and went outside. Because I don’t know anything about that. So the last group was just fun until everyone started gambling. So I’m watching them and behind the croud of people I see the school camera. So I try to tell them and this boy said “ Na get out the way we never been caught u messing up my game yo” I said oh ok never mind and walked off to get some water. Bro...I kid you not. When I get to the doors to go outside I see the school police officer speed walking to them. You know what I did? I turned my whole body with the swiftness!. After that day I noticed nobody had a love for cars like I did. Nobody actually knew what went on inside of an engine or even what a turbo is. So I started following more people from my school and posting about cars. After a while there was only one person out of my whole entire freahman school year, that had a somewhat same interest of cars like I did. So when I started to settle in with myself in highschool, people would have a conversation and then I would blurt out random car facts that has nothing to do with what they are talking about. After I noticed nobody really had the same interest I started being someone I’m not, I started talking and agreeing on sports and stuff and after a day or so I just realized I can’t change myself. And you shouldn’t have to change to be accepted to anyone. Even if someone says you should be doing this. What ever makes you smile or happy when doing it, you are doing you and if you decide to change for the greater good that’s wonderful. But if your doing something harmful you should find a different way to express that. Because all you are going to hear is all you do is that harmful act and you need to change, but u don’t want to change you like being yourself. It has been days where people would bring up a car and instantly regret it because of on how well I know cars. After a while I just accepted that people will come and go because of the way you are and because they can’t change you. After they see they can’t change you to THEIR liking, they are going to fall back slowly. My the end of 9th grade I accepted nobody is like me and I am unique. And I don’t quite fit in here.
