America's Horrifying Beauty Standards
I find America’s beauty standards absolutely horrifying. If you’re wondering why, just look around you! There are multiple examples walking around today. Have you heard the phrase, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?” Well, in today’s society, it has changed to, “Beauty is in the eye of who society as a whole perceives as beautiful.” It seems as if society decides who is beautiful and who is not beautiful. Society holds high expectations for men and women to be called beautiful or handsome.

Change the Viewfinder
There are always going to be dark days & negativity, unfortunately that is just for some reason the current trend, it is like a pre-determined part of growing up in this day and age, and I know it can seem that there is little you can do to avoid it. The bills keep dropping on the door mat, your car breaks down, your dog s!@#s on the carpet. These are just facts of life right?

3 Ways to Instantly Lift Your Mood
We all have our off days if you will, the days when you wake up in the morning and your hair is lopsided, you have a nice dry bit of dribble stuck in your beard, you head downstairs, flick the kettle on and spot that the coffee jar is empty! Any day like that is surely going to set you off on the wrong foot, whilst almost certainly putting you in a foul mood. When this happens it can wreak havoc on the rest of your day, affecting your attitude whilst driving on the way to work, to your attitude in the workplace, to how you straight up deal with other human beings. That is why it is essential to ensure that you do the below three ways to lift your mood before leaving the house.

Falling With ‘Style’
Everyone is familiar with Toy Story, especially, the scene where Woody and Buzz finally fly to catch Andy and the moving van before it’s too late. They called it “falling with style.” This was because Buzz couldn’t technically sustain himself to fly. He wasn’t that kind of toy. Or was he?

Mastering Melancholy
The first thing to understand in your pursuit of happiness is that “happy” is a subjective term: what works for one person won’t work for the next. These suggestions are not law or guaranteed to change your life. Instead, they’re designed to make you think—to look inward and figure out what you, as an individual, need to make you your happiest self.

A Quick Reminder
We're rounding the end of the second month this year. How many of you made a resolution? Are you still pursuing it? If not, that's ok. I stopped making a New Year’s resolution a long time ago. There's so much pressure for us to just come up with something to better ourselves. But, do we really think about it? I personally think that we should make an effort everyday to better ourselves, in one way or another. Speak a little kinder. Be more positive. Take the stairs when you go to work. Park a little further away at the grocery store. Don't feel bad for not actively pursuing that resolution. There are opportunities every day to make a better choice for yourself.

Give Thanks, That's the Secret
I have learned the ticket through life is gratitude. It's a shame we are not taught how to be grateful in school. Of all the subjects we are shown, I believe being grateful would be the most useful. It is hard to get through life without appreciation. Think of the dependency we have as human beings. From the moment we are formed we need the nutrients from our host, the body of our own mother just to survive. Once we are born, we need love, care, attention, touch, even air to sustain ourselves. But gratitude...that is what we often forget.

Does Happiness Exist?
Throughout my whole life I have felt somewhat alone. I thought I was strange and incredibly different from what I assumed was normal. But from the help of social media, I began to feel more included, and as odd as that seems it was true for me and many others I assume. Social media was an escape for me but it brought me more exclusion in the long run. I regret the hours spent endlessly watching videos because I was missing out on real life experiences.

Fight the “Good” Fight
Every day I wake up to the news, every day it's the same: violence, killing, crime, hate. Currently there is a race for government offices, so we get to see commercials about corruption, lying, and people whose only concern is themselves. We take this in and try to decide who is the lesser of many evils. We watch the news and think why do they show all these horrible events. But this is what we have all accepted, like it or not. If it's not violent, if it's not a crime, it's not news. I am guilty like many others of seeing "fluff stories" and saying, really is that news? We are bored with the good. Nobody wants to hear about someone paying for someone else's cup of coffee. Nobody believes in a commercial about a politician who does things for others just because. We all hate and our saddened by these mass killings, but what can we do about that it? Whatever side you are on, on gun laws, I doubt anyone is on the side of children being killed. What I am writing is not about gun laws, I am not debating which party is better. What I am writing about is being "good." We can't change everything in the world, but we can try to make things better. For the record I do not believe anyone needs a weapon that’s only use is to kill multiple people quickly. I mean, bombs aren’t legal. Why is that? Because, there is only one reason to have them; mass killing.

Here's Why "Finding Balance" Doesn't Really Exist
As I type this, I am: writing an email, next week's list of things to do, scheduling the staff meeting this afternoon and writing this post all at once, and I wonder for a second if it is an appropriate time for my third cup of tea. It is 1:58 PM in the afternoon on Valentine's Day and no one in my office has received any midday roses yet.

Life Challenges
Complaining is something we all do from time to time. Something happens that didn’t go our way and we complain about it. We didn’t get the job. We gained too much weight. We have a bad hair day. Our car broke down. We got a flat. We can’t pay all of the bills. Someone said something about us. Someone did something to us that we didn't like. We got hurt. We told someone to do something and they didn’t and the situation turned out bad. We complain about all these things. It’s human nature. We all want things to go the way we expect them to. Things happen, that’s life. It’s all about how you handle the situation that shows your character and cultivates positive energy and attitude.
