A Feeling to Hold
Happiness. Who would have thought that such a word was so difficult to define. according to the oxford dictionary happiness is the state of being happy. okay….well what is happy? Besides an odd sounding word which is used to describe a feeling. In going back to the oxford dictionary the definition of happy is feeling or showing pleasure or contentment. Now if pleasure is defined as a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment and contentment is defined as a state of happiness and satisfaction then is happiness not just a feeling felt at the end of something? So how do we hold on to a feeling that seems to be most prominent after we achieve some sort of goal. The feeling of happiness may be felt after helping another person with a simple act of kindness or doing drugs for some others. We are all such diverse creatures that the “what” of what makes us happy is too vast . What I want to know and hopefully share is the “how” of how do we hold on to a feeling that to most of us seems to be transient in nature.

Pathway to happiness
Who am I? Why am I in this world? What is the reason for this life? What distinguishes me as human from animals? These are some of the questions many will ask themselves at times, but since they cannot find convincing answers, they eventually give up thinking about them and continue to live in the way they are expected to do, paying little or no attention to finding the purpose of their life. To certain people, these questions become so vital that they spend most of their lives in search of finding answers. That search eventually leads them to look within themselves. To be a happy, wholesome and healthy person, your body and soul must work in perfect harmony. This means uniting the body and soul to fulfill the mission for which we were all put on earth: to lead a meaningful, productive, and virtuous life by making this physical world a home. The body and soul, however, are in constant conflict: the body basically looking to satisfy its needs with the soul looking for transcendence and unity. The first step in dealing with this conflict is to acknowledge that the struggle exists, and be aware of the two distinct forces. Thinking that we are a single entity leads to confusion and despair. One day we are virtuous and the next we are selfish; one day we are motivated, the next we procrastinate. It’s actually pretty simple. Love and happiness make you feel good and good things happen when you feel good. There’s a simple reason why this is true. Your outer world reflects your inner world. When you lift your spirits to a place where miracles can happen, they do. Think about living fully and the alternatives – suffering and stress – which are much more common. Statistically, it’s a proven fact that stress kills. It’s another example of your outer world reflecting your inner world. We were born to live happily, but the stresses of life can get in the way. If you live with a lot of stress, anxiety, and the like, your health and well-being may not be in danger today. But where is it going to take you? Stress is an epidemic that is eroding our quality of life, individually and collectively. All at time when making a shift into a happier and more loving world is a real option. It’s truly a choice. As a part of an entire network of life on this planet, we are constantly experiencing an expanding awareness of our surroundings as it all happens! Perhaps there is no ultimate or final goal, and we are learning to adapt to this adventure that is always changing as we live it.

How to Thrive Despite Your Fears
I have been reflecting on fear lately and our need to play safe so we can be liked and accepted. Social media can be, in this case, a double-edged sword! While it allows to reach out a vast amount of people very quickly, it’s also unforgiving and very often cruel.

The Other Side of Christmas
I've been Christmas af for as long as I can remember. I loved everything about it. Obviously as a child, the thrill of knowing you have new toys and gifts waiting for you is your main point of focus but as I got older, and my presents became more scarce, I started to fall in love with the feeling of Christmas and not the expense of it. I truly adored the tradition. Every year, without fail, the last minute stress of getting those forgotten gifts, the Christmas Eve "you can open just one", the never being ready to leave for my Nanny's house on time, my Nanny being a level ninety-nine on the stress scale but forever refusing help. The one day a year that everyone just shuts up. The one day that the scattered pieces of family fit together.

4 Reasons New Years Eve is Overrated
Hello, my name is Sal and I don’t like New Years Eve. The first step toward my recovery from this issue was admitting that I have a problem with it. Don’t get me wrong; I had a really good crack at becoming a New Years Eve person, many a time. I even learnt all the words to ‘Auld Lang Syne’ which incidentally, is a waste of time because everyone is usually shit-faced by the time that song comes on. I've definitely made a solid effort to embrace the evening over the years, I've had the hangovers to prove it.

All is Fair?
Life isn't fair. We all hear the phrase but it seems that the word "fair" loses its meaning the further we look at it. Sporting event do their best to make the game as fair as possible. But how can you account for skill, injury and even just the events that go on in the background. "If we stayed healthy" or if that call that seemingly everyone knew was wrong wasn't applied we would've won. Nothing can be totally fair because to consider life absolutely fair would be to consider every human absolutely equal which cannot be the case.

Tryin to do me
It's been a whirlwind of a year. Every year I feel like I'll be more equipped to handle life's challenges. Then I realize with a lot of effort and knowledge of self I am, but it's never easy. I've had so many times this year where I've felt defeated, purposeless, and just disappointed with where I am. I know these can be somewhat normal feelings as long as you're not stuck in this feeling; in believing this "norm" is where you belong.
