happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
Dear Teenage Girls
How are you? When was the last time you felt genuine happiness? I hope you're still good even in this current situation. You are staying at home for several months, but not everyone has the comfort and peace they've needed. What it feels like when someone compliments you? Gave you remarks you can't forget? Should the word, "beautiful" become the basis of self-love? Should I outlive with the standards of this generation before I get accepted? Before someone loves me? Makeup? Hair? The way I dress? The way I fit into their world?

A View from a Waiting Room
Please Note: This observation was made before the pandemic. It had been a long time since I had been in that neck of the woods. Well, there weren't many forests to get lost in since it was a city, the city of Takoma Park, Maryland.

Your Struggles Aren't Who You Are.
Life is like a roller coaster, you'll have the high moments, the low moments then sometimes you'll just be smooth sailing enjoying the moment. But most importantly, you gotta ask yourself what you take away from each moment.

The Failure
The click of her red bottoms pounded the pavement heavily, as she stepped out of her black escalade, the wave of flashes strike her like unexpected waves hit the sand. As the bodyguards stand on either side of her, she emerges like the sun in the dawn. Dressed in her silver Vera Wang gown, with a sheer mesh back and thigh high slit. Her silver red bottoms to match as she clutches her custom made Birking bag she forces a smile and waves to the crowd. They were here for her, to see her open her 10th location, as she takes it all in the smell of the city clashes with her Tom Ford, black orchid perfume. Who would of thought that 10 years ago Reine and her Son Prince would be one of the wealthiest black woman on the Forbes list, for 10 years ago they were laid in the back of her 2007 Honda Accord, under a comforter cold, hungry and homeless. For a moment she remembers the pain, the tears and the want to die for she felt like a failure. Everyone abandoned her, she held her son as the warm, large, salty tears roll down her brown cheeks onto the comforter that she used to keep her son warm. “Reine! Reine! Reine!” The crowd cheers in Unison and she snaps back to reality. Her walk was light, her shoulders back, her head to the sky, as she continued to wave at the crowd, stopping for pictures, autographs and brief chats. As she walked toward the the modern, glass skyscraper overlooking the city, a big red bow and scissors awaited her. It was in the car, 10 years ago she made a decision to help out the community if she made it out of her situation, she wanted to change the world so no mother, child or human being will ever feel the emotions and thoughts she felt at her lowest. Tears began to form, but she took a deep breath and looked up, she spoke to everyone for coming out, for those involved in building her dream, and those who have supported her. As she cut the red bow that stood between her and the front doors, she felt for once in her life, important and worth it! Another family shelter, equipped with on site assistance for housing, credit, STEM courses for children and adults, a 3 story library, full gym, Olympic size swimming pool, and so much more. Sleeping in shelters, cars and couch hopping was not the best experience for her and her son. Most of the shelters had mice, roaches, unkept facilities, she wanted people going through the worst stages in their lives to feel special, to not have to sleep where mice are crawling around the walls and dirty bathrooms. As she entered the doors to the new family shelter, a tear fell down her cheek and she remembered how good it felt to help others.

Decisions that changes our life
Decisions that changes our life Do we happily die when we make them? Do we make decisions thinking it could be the last one we make? Are we as human capable of thinking through each decision or are we just controlled by ventrolateral prefrontal cortex and orbitofrontal cortex?

The Morning After.....
Before I open my eyes I stretch and shake off the fog of sleep. I hear talking in the background. Familiar voices that lulled me to sleep. My inner clock tells me it is early morning, but the voices. Have I only been asleep for minutes? I slowly open my eyes and realize that it is the morning after, and according to the commentators no clear winner has been delcared. The 2020 election, the pandemic, the current state of the country have all been skewed, and nothing is clear. This is not a peculiar happening, but the manifestation of things past.

Forgiveness Is No Fun
Forgiving people sometimes just plain sucks. Having the capacity to forgive someone is an admirable quality. I admire people who are able to forgive quicker than most. I have read books on forgiveness, listened to lectures and heard about forgiveness plenty in church. Forgiving, much like dieting and refraining from online order sprees, is so much easier said than done and not nearly as much fun as other things. I have seen so many movies and TV shows where someone is hellbent on revenge and at the last minute has some sort of spiritual awakening and refrains from the kill shot or kill blow. I find those moments very disappointing. Two shows I like very much are Blacklist and Wentworth. In Blacklist the main character always takes the kill shot. Even if he forgives them, it is a matter of principle. He is my favorite. In Wentworth the main character in the first couple of seasons gets her revenge. Someone almost talked her out of it too, but she followed through. In the following episode someone asked her if it was worth it and she said yes. Finally. That is what I like to hear. Usually the answer is no with some long sad and pathetic explanation and I want to throw my shoe at the TV. Often times people say you won’t feel any different or you won’t feel any better if you do this to them or do that to them. I beg to differ and I have two questions for those people. How do you know and why not? There are a handful of people I would like to crack in the mouth and I have no doubt that I would feel better after. I would probably relive that moment in my head repeatedly and sleep a whole lot better at night. My hand might hurt a bit after but man the pain would be worth it. When someone tells me I need to forgive, it makes it worse. Add another resentment to the list.

MY GREEN TEMPLE
Swirling and dancing in the air, a tiny leaf lands softly on the ground. I’m mesmerized by all of my favourite shades of green on this one leaf, all merging into one another like water-coloured paint after it’s been spritzed with H20. How truly beautiful something so simple can be. I take a long, deep breath and consciously feel the dew-filled air and the sweet smell of pine enter my body. This breath feels familiar to me. I know I have arrived.

Love letter to the suffering artist
We all come to the point of being at a crossroad of choosing a life or career path. It’s really one decision for both of these things. You’re not just deciding on a career, you will be devoting most of your life to this. You want it to be something of your own creating. You want it to be your love child, your homegrown flower.
