Understanding your goals to help you achieve them.
Do What You Love
Hi, my name is Jonathann Richardson, and I haven’t written anything in a very long time. I believe you should always do what you love. If there’s that one thing you’ve been dying to do, do it! This life is too short to not do things that make you happy. This may be a corny saying, but “everybody dies but not everybody lives.”

The Man Who Seeks to Move a Mountain...
I recently read Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, and The Art of War written by Chinese Military General and Philosopher Sun Tzu. It got me thinking deeply about the way that success and victory, which are of course all subjective to the individual, can be achieved in day-to-day life. Here is what I came up with.

How to Explore More!
There are an endless amount of excuses for not getting out and exploring more while having a busy work life. These days most jobs don't just finish at 5 PM when you leave the office, and days off occasionally can be anything but that, especially if you have family commitments or a social life to keep up with. But since the start of this summer I have made it my goal to get out, explore more and enjoy a little bit of adventure at least once per month.

The First Step
I first became interested in blogging when I read an article about freelancing; it told me that blogging was the best way to go, but I had never read, written, or even really heard about it. What was it? What was it about? I love freelancing, as it has given me a way to make money on the side and explore myself as I do so. I have met some fantastic people doing it, those I am proud to have written for. However, what I was doing did not pay well. I had not learned self respect and self management. Blogging, I read, was to help promote myself and bring myself control.

You're Now Leaving... THE COMFORT ZONE!
Whenever the words "comfort zone" pop up, someone invariably asks what it means. It's really quite simple: each of us has a way of doing things that's comfortable to us. From the time we get up (in fact, even the position we sleep in when we're catching the last of our 40 winks) to the time we hit the sack at night, we do and react to things in a manner that's almost automatic, because we're so used to them. In fact, the things that cause us the most trouble in life are those situations that sway us from our regular "feel-good" routines—our "comfort zones"; they don't feel right because we're not used to them.

I Have a Burning Fire in My Belly and Heart and It's Killing Me and Keeping Me Alive at the Same Time
If my world was on fire, I wouldn't know because every day is a California wildfire in my eyes. Every day is ticking. Time is a ticking. I'm getting older and I have big pipe dreams and...

Your Journey is Your Purpose
"Life works in mysterious ways." Ever heard that before? How about "God works in mysterious ways?" I have. In fact, I still hear it and even see it on inspirational memes on social media. When I was younger, I didn't know or even care what that meant because I was too busy living in the moment and not paying attention to what the universe was putting in my lap.

Good to Great
I've always been a dreamer. I've always had things I've wanted to do, places I've wanted to go, dreams of useless talents that could take me places; whether stupid, small, or secretly large. I've always had this urge... a—desire, I suppose you could say—to be known. Heard. Maybe it's my huge ego, but I want that for the best of reasons, I swear. And I hate that I want it because I should be humble and shit but I'm not. I want to be known for something. I want to die knowing that I was really good—no, scratch that—G R E A T at something. All my life, I've never had something that I'm really great at. I've been late to everything.

It Was All a Dream...
"As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." A famous quote from a famous film, but without a doubt a mantra that many have lived by their whole life. Why a gangster? because they demand respect, they live by their rules, and they certainly aren't sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week waiting to see if their annual leave request gets approved.

You're Wasting Your Time...
"You are wasting your time... That is not going to get you anywhere... Why are you bothering to do that?" I heard these phrases so many times growing up. It seemed like no matter what I was doing, it was a waste. So many dreams just squashed like a tiny bug under a huge boot. Now all these years later I look back and I wonder just how many dreams of mine were lost. How many talents did I just throw away and let wilt? The hardest part was, I was a child. I was barely if even in my teens. Yet, I still hear those words, echoing around in my head. What would I have become had I had the support in my interests that every child deserves?

Understanding the Autotelic Personality
To begin, it would be prudent for us to start with a definition of the aforementioned concept. Autotelic is defined as “having an end or purpose in itself”; someone with an Autotelic Personality is described as having “a disposition to actively seek challenges and flow experiences.” Flow itself is described as “a state in which people are so involved in an activity (i.e., being in the zone) in which nothing else seems to matter; the experience is so enjoyable that people will continue to do it even at great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it.”
