Understanding your goals to help you achieve them.
THE BOUGIE INSTRUCTOR
Where do I begin? Let me start with the year 2003, when I graduated nursing school. I knew I wanted to be the best at whatever I did...or at least, close to the best. And, I always wanted to be someone who had the ability and means to change the lives of others for the better. I needed guidance...I needed empowerment...I needed someone to guide me through my journey to help me get to where I wanted to be--on top--or, close to the top.

A year sober - why I'm quitting booze and sugar
It's New Year's day 2020, and today is the day I try to quit both booze and sugar for an entire year. I know what you're thinking, I'm an idiot, but hear me out. There have been a number of factors that have brought me to this decision which I will no doubt go in to at depth in future posts, but the crux of it comes down to this - I've realised that I have terrible relationships with both sugar and alcohol, and at 34 years old it's time I change that.

Minimalism and Zero Waste Lifestyle
Minimalism and zero waste are two of the newest trends today. But, what does that even mean? Both of these have a variety of answers and versions of what being a minimalist and zero waste means. Is it even possible to be 100 % zero waste, especially in today’s society?

What is your word for 2020
Reflecting on 2019 I realize that have had a lot of peaks and valleys in my life. Not all for the good and not all for the bad. The real point is I had opportunities for growth! Every experience I go through is a way to reveal new understanding about myself. That being said I want to share some of my trials and tribulations that have helped to shape my view of the world.

How to remain faithful in dark times
Life is dark. From listening to the stories of my peers our lives are full of cycles of sweetness but then sour heartbreaks of many relationships that touch the nerve of many parts of us. The tender sensitive parts of you do not know how to handle those outside forces ( they may be the job that you got fired from for being late, it may be the goal that you had to lose 20 pound but you just cant seem to come down, or it may be mental illness punching strong that tells you those words from your childhood that you are pathetic or some devastating explicative) It can feel like even when the sun is out our chronic pain on the inside will not rest, and it makes our lives feel like a cage that we can't escape from. When we feel helpless to the circumstances of our lives we grieve. Ways that I have grieved include:

I'll Be Roaring In the 20s
A lot of things have happened this past year, and the next year is looking to be just as eventful, and I was feeling kind of nostalgic and wistful, and also resolved, so I thought I would do a little recap, and speak some of my wishes into the world, in hopes they materialize.

Out With The Old In With The New
Prepare yourself to see ‘New Year New Me’ posts all over social media. I will be honest and say I used to follow this quote almost every year. I felt as though following that quote would almost bring a sudden fresh start to all my issues, in my mind it contributed to confidence and change, as the year progressed at times this wasn’t always the case. I have learnt that you can focus on yourself, manage relationships, live a healthy lifestyle and much more, all in stages. In my adult years, I can say, sometimes giving yourself additional pressure to achieve goals within a year may not be realistic. You can have goals for yourself and manage them wisely as you go along. So, as the new decade approaches, I don’t fancy the ‘New Year New Me’ routine but will step into 2020 as I am. I will nevertheless embrace the freshness added to my years and continue to be happy.

Ten Years of Beginning the Writing Journey
2020 is just around the corner. With it comes the inundation of posts about the past decade, the journeys people have been on, and the excitement of things to come. Since deciding to restart my blog coincided happily with the New Year, I figured I might as well hop onto that metaphorical train as well, and look back at the last ten years in my writing life.

The Vocal Challenge 2020. Top Story - December 2019.
January is closing in and the New Year's resolutions are beginning to pile in by the million. But, honestly, how many times have we promised ourselves that we'll cut out drinking or snacking only to then scrap the goal mid-January time? How many promises have we broken to not only ourselves, but also to our friends and families, as well? It's not usually the greatest of starts, is it? But that's alright – because, annoyingly, we're all guilty of doing it.

Why Being “The Popular Girl” or “Pretty Girl” is a lonely place.
I used to want to be one of those girls who every guy would flock over when she entered a room. I wanted to be and feel beautiful. I wanted to be that girl with the amazing hair, great smile, beautiful eyes and fabulous style. Then. I. Became. Her.
