How to Actually Achieve Your New Years Resolutions
Make and Break We all set New Years resolutions, but why are they so hard to keep? The fresh start seems so promising, but by February we're already over it and back to our old ways. How do we get these goals to finally stick?

20 Before 20
Inspired by this post, and in anticipation of my twentieth birthday coming up in less than a week, I decided that I would create a list of twenty life lessons that I've learned thus far. Seeing as I've only been an adult for two whole years (WOOHOO!!), and my experience has been limited to voting in a municipal election (not even provincial or federal *insert eye roll*) and setting my own doctor’s appointment for the very first time, I don't have much of my own advice to give. That means this list will be primarily composed of lessons that I have learned from other people near and dear to my heart. So without further ado, here goes!

New Year's Resolution Solutions
Goodbye, 2020! It was a challenging year, to say the least. While we all breathe a collective sigh of relief, I like to look at the coming year and see if there are changes I can make. It is interesting, though, because nothing magically transforms just because the calendar switches from December 31, 2020 to January 1, 2021. Yet, the symbolism of it, the beginning of a new year, and the idea of starting anew is alluring enough to set goals to become a happier and healthier person.

Revamp Hiper Speed
I will begin with a few things about me and my life in the shortest way I know how. I have suffered from the ups and downs of life. The changes and the idles of my own doing. I have depression, anxiety, thyroid disease, mood swings, obesity, and there's others but you get the just of it. I'M ONE HUGE HOT MESS to say the least! What is worse is I know I am. I mean if I was in AA classes, I guess knowing and admitting it is half the battle, am I right? The real me is hiding and just wishing she could come back out and play. I used to be the person everyone wanted to talk to, visit, invite places, go shopping with or party with. The real life of the party kind of person. I could turn someone’s frown right side up in minutes, But I could never seem to take my own advice. I really do not know what happened to me. Where did that girl go? Why did she go into hiding? What happened? Most of all why did it happen? Okay, okay yes getting older happens to us all, so what! That is not a reason to pull 180. Well, no matter the reason I am here now. I hate who I have become. I must make a change and I need to do now and fast. I cannot be trapped in this stranger's body with all these issues no more. I feel like I am suffocating. Sort of like I am dying within my own shell. I cannot live like this another minute. So, it is time for revamping myself from the inside out. To make a new me, if I am not able to find that lost girl, at least I could make myself a better version of who I am now, like a huge, better version. Someone I can live with, that I can be proud of. Someone that can show to other’s it can be done.

I Wana Try
I didn`t really have a new years resolution, but I did realize the opportunity to do what I want in life is kind of passing by. For me pursuing my goals isn't entirely about a lack of inspiration. My life kind of sucks, I don`t really know what to do to feel better and accomplish everything I want.

2021: The Year of Calm
Its pretty safe to say that 2020 as a year wasn't the best. COVID-19 brought about a tonne of problems for everyone; one being the creation of a world-wide lockdown. In England, we saw so many variations of lockdown that it was kind of hard to keep up. So it wasn't really surprising when articles started to come out of people experiencing declining mental health; from burnout by working from home to general anxiety and depression from an uncertain future.

My New Years Resolutions for 2021
Like many people, I set resolutions for the year every January. My resolutions don't tend to change much from year to year - I usually set the same ones, or close to the same ones - lose weight, read more, make more money from freelance writing. Of course, they're not that general. I usually set specific targets for what weight I want to get down to, how many books I want to read, and how much I want to make from writing. Here are my resolutions for this year.

2021: The year of Positivity
Well, 2020 is finally behind us. The year everyone wanted to be over has finally come. However, here in the UK very little has changed since March, in fact, we're back in a national lockdown. Like many, finding motivation and a sense of life has been tiresome at the best of times. I will admit, a few existential crises have been had, I didn't complete everything I wanted to do in 2020 and I beat myself up about it. Starting 2021 in yet another lockdown isn't perhaps the best start to the year, however, instead of dwelling on the things I cannot do I want to focus my energy on myself. It has been a tough year on every one that is why I believe 2021 is the year for positivity! Not only for yourself but towards others. Learn to love life now, even if you are in a standstill with your goals.

Fears and Goals
I have a huge fear a failure. Huge. I question everything and whether it will fail. Jobs, relationships, parenting, even being friends with someone. Which is why writing like this every week is such a struggle. It amazes every time I get even a single read, let alone multiple! I am always second guessing myself and thinking it could have been better. Granted, there have been times in my life when I haven't tried. When I haven't put my best foot forward. For the most part, however, I am at constant war with my imperfections and how I let them limit me. There are things in my life that I allow to hold me back, that I let stand in my way. It’s usually just myself, doubting every move I make. Not letting my intuition guide me but instead allowing fear to swallow me up and hold me hostage in my own mind.

The Disease is not even a disease.
I have been sober for over 12 years, and I was taught to follow a simple 12 step program. I did just that. I had a sponsor who has been sober for over 20 years. I was doing all these things inside a sober living facility. Keep in mind I was doing this because in the beginning I was just trying to survive and not be homeless again. As time went on, they also suggested I go to meetings and talk about my problems with others, who I call strangers with no experience in knowing human behavior . They only knew what was told to them according to their 12 steps literature.
