"Fresh" Start ???
A new year. Under new leadership. During a whole new, forced upon us, lifestyle. What a time to be alive...I think. Most every year as the holidays come to an end and we bid our loved ones the sweetest of farewells, we shift our focus onto the new year. Ahhh, January. A fresh start, like stepping outside in the crisp morning air and taking a deep refreshing breath as we begin a new day. It seems as though this year has come and it is simply one of the smaller things on anyone's mind. With the cultural climate at a steep tension and politics boiling on everyone's brain, being able to take a step back and think about starting a new couldn't be more important. The tricky part is actually being able to focus on that.

An Opportunity
There is always an opportunity when that's what you're looking to find. With a new year, there is a new energy, as well as, an opening to make changes in our lives. The start of a new year makes people reflect on things they want to change for the better. A new year is a clean slate in many ways. Although many people are cynical about making resolutions for the new year, it does get them thinking about what positive changes they wish to see in themselves.

The First Step Back
As a single parent who has been unemployed since 2018, (the year my daughter was born), the time has come for me to take that first step back into the world of work after spending two and a half years raising my little one. However, applying for jobs isn't the same as it was. Especially with the pandemic having a huge impact on the jobs market.

6 Resolutions for 2021...and Beyond
2021, here we are. Since hindsight is 2020, we can look back at last year through a deep and wide lens to best learn from our mistakes, get rid of the things and people who suck our energy away from us, and do more of what fills us with energy. In doing so, we can set ourselves up for success by moving forward with a clearer vision for our lives...this year and beyond.

In 2021 I want to self improve by writing more
There are several health goals I want to work on in 2021. I’ve been doing Yoga with Kassandra most mornings in January and I hope to keep that going. I took up running in 2020 but I had to stop in December when it got too cold, particularly in the early morning that I find the ideal time for running. I am itching to be a runner again come spring. Last summer I did Hadrian’s Wall Virtual Challenge, where I ran a total of 90 miles. This summer I’m thinking of doing the Ring of Kerry Challenge, which is 124 miles. If the pandemic allows it, I might try to take part in an actual race with other people. Healthwise I also want to pare back my drinking, which became more frequent while stuck at home quarantined. I’ve found a useful framework to have set days where I don’t drink. I already don’t drink on Mondays, next I’ll prohibit myself from drinking any on Wednesdays.

Mind Blowned
Ever heard of the saying "Being uncomfortable is the best way to learn?" As the year was ending I hadn't realized it until it was finally January 1st. I was still stuck in my own life, minding my own business, not caring about what the world had to offer. I was comfortable, I was okay with everything and that's how I did things. I knew deep inside I should be doing other things, I should be putting myself out of my comfort zone and trying new things. Of course that never really got through me.

Small Steps to Transform your Life
"New Year New Me" has got to be one of the most cliché sayings that pop-up everywhere come December and January. Although this phrase has become somewhat of a joke at this point, what if it was actually possible to tackle goals in every part of your life in order to come out of the year a better version of yourself. I'm talking fitness goals, personal goals, financial goals, career goals and all around improving your quality of life! Sounds like fake news right? Well I've been using the following method for the past three years, and every year I have been able to carry out all the goals I've set! In every single one of these areas! And the best part, it's a lot easier than you might think.

Quarantine Abs
I remember back in March 2020, when the coronavirus was just on the brink of becoming a pandemic, I was at a recreational volleyball game and was chatting with my teammates regarding its imminent approach. Someone said that that game was probably going to be the last one we will have in a month. And here we are today, not having seen my team for almost a year.
