goals
Understanding your goals to help you achieve them.
A Few Hours At A Time
I go set up at my recording booth, a quarter of the art room reserved for me, full of soundproofing foam and a cage of pvc pipe and grandmother’s quilts, because it has the best sound. I pull back the quilts to let in the light and plug in my web cam so my friends can actually see my face after such a long time apart.

The Pursuit of Passions
If you had asked me years ago in high school, "do you want to write for a living?", then I would have said, "absolutely not. I don't even English.". Writing was the furthest thing from my mind! I am an introverted, young, black woman just wanting to figure out the next 5 years of her life. I am 'good enough' at various creative feats; such as crocheting/knitting, dancing, painting- well barely, and some other artistic ventures; however, I never thought writing would be something I'd seriously consider (the exception being that my major required papers or essays left and right).

The Ultimate Goal Of All Goals
It's a little crazy to try and understand how we need to look after ourselves first and foremost in life, and have that element of selfishness, whilst at the same token, needing to be helpful, supporting, encouraging, and uplifting towards others. How can we be selfish and selfless at the one time? Is it even possible? Let's firstly look at the selfish side to this matter. No matter what else is going on around us, we need to be prioritizing our health, our happiness, and the pursuit of our goals. Our decisions and actions should always be based around ensuring these three elements of our life are being nurtured, protected, and kept satisfied. It's about making sure we eat healthy, exercise daily, have at least a minimum of 7 hours sleep each night, and always be looking after our mental health. It's about living the life that we want, whilst creating the future we desire, rather than being dictated to in how we should live our life, so that we can find genuine happiness and satisfaction. It's about setting ourselves goals that we have an extreme internal emotional attachment to, that mean so much to us personally, that we wouldn't let anything prevent us from achieving them. That means prioritizing the actions that are working towards these goals, rather than following the advice of others, or being distracted by less important tasks and activities of everyday life, that so many people get caught out by. The reason why we should be selfish in these areas is because if we are not keeping healthy, we are not feeling positive minded, happy, and fulfilled, and we are not experiencing the satisfaction of accomplishing what we desire to accomplish in life, then how can we possibly be the best version of ourselves? How can we be beneficial, attractive, and inspiring towards others, if we aren't enjoying life, and being the best version of ourselves that we can be? We can be a much better father, mother, son, daughter, grandparent, friend, work colleague, cousin, and individual in general, if we are happy, satisfied, healthy, and successful in life, that's a fact! That's why we need to be selfish in these aspects of life.

Anxious For Nothing
Confront the Chaos When Max Lucado described in his book the anxiety as “High-intensity fear—a malaise” even “A floating sense of dread” is because many times anxiety is seen in each of these forms, perhaps some other things that probably brings storms into our lives, or even worse, they want to steal peace.

Have you ever been forced into a hobby?
I can’t say that I’ve ever been the most creative person. I mean I like to think that I was creative, but I feel like every time, throughout my childhood, that I tried to bring to life something imaginative and joyful, I just didn’t have the technical skill to pull it together and make it beautiful. I had friends in high school that went through Art class with stunning abilities and skills, and even my Step Dad and my sister were quite talented at drawing, however, I just didn’t seem to make the cut with the creatives. I’ve always been good with words, capable of writing, and I’ve dabbled in journaling, or creative writing every so often, but it just never felt the same as having a talent like being a wonderful painter, or being able to make music. So, I think for the most part, I pushed myself into academia, always thriving, and then keeping my creative writing to myself, cause it’s not really something that anyone else was ever interested in.

Unconventional motivational routes
It's typically full of cliché advice when it comes to encouraging and pushing oneself. "Don't give up or Get over it," and also "Always look on the positive side of life" are all phrases used to encourage people to keep going. These are only a couple of instances. While they're all true in principle, this type of thinking isn't working anymore in most cases. In fact, they're so hackneyed and overused that most of us miss the point.

Want To Make Better Decisions?
The rest of the book (Kahneman, 2011) addresses the differences between these two perspectives and what they mean for different types of energy. Together, they provide a remarkable experience of how we can adapt to better general decisions and influence the decisions of others. To see how we can use this experience, we must begin with the basic reason why we should not all look at our choices and choices in the same way. Show Sources

A Single Mother and the Struggles with Work
Before I became a mother, I didn't think too much about the sexism that I had previously faced in the workplace. I just accepted it. After watching a few powerful films and series about women rising above the system that I feel still seems to de-power women, I started thinking about my own journey.
